Chapter 73: Rainbow Laser

β€œOver there,” Kaytlyn shouted as the young fennec held tightly Creedance’s arm. The paper demon changed her flight path toward the massive trash monster, which was wreaking havoc on Wougai’s ecosystem and needed to be stopped before balance could be restored.

β€œWhy are you in charge of this mission?” Bertrand demanded, holding on to the other arm. The raven’s voice was slightly muffled from under his plague mask but annoyed.

β€œIt was her idea,” Creedance interjected as she neared the monster with her passengers. Hopefully, the paper demon’s passengers would stop arguing as it was making it difficult to hold onto them and fly.

β€œAnd I’m a better fighter,” Kaytlyn smirked at Bertrand, remembering her holiday fight with the bird man.

β€œYou only won because of your mech suit,” the raven growled as the wind whipped through his blue jacket.

β€œWe can do a rematch if you want,” the fennec offered before sticking her tongue out.

β€œEnough from you two! We’re at the drop sight,” Creedance shouted over the sound of her arguing cargo.

A descending spiral path brought the trio within safe dropping range. Carefully, the paper demon let go of her passengers and let them drop. Bertrand landed perfectly on his feet without rippling the shallow swamp waters. Somehow, Kaytlyn managed to slow down time as she fell. A bright purple light and upbeat music surrounded her before the fox girl touched down. Once the light and music faded, Kaytlyn stepped forth in her Druid Sentinel form in her purple dress with five different colored tails. Creedance flapped down to land opposite the fennec kitsune and raven man. The trash beast lumbered closer as Kaytlyn summoned a flaming brick with a burning halo around it in front of herself.

β€œSend your powers through Fire Brick and I’ll amplify them,” the kitsune instructed as the flaming halo expanded.

β€œAs you wish,” Creedance nodded, using her wings to whip up a gust of wind.

β€œYes, ma’am,” Bertrand sarcastically saluted before using his powers to spray water through the halo.

As the wind and water entered the flaming halo, they combined with the magic of fire. A radiant ring of rainbows erupted from the blazing circle. Concentrating with all her might, Kaytlyn focused the rainbow energy into a tight, concentrated prismatic beam. The multicolored laser cut through the trash beast, slowing its path of destruction.

β€œThere that should buy us some time,” Kaytlyn declared as the beam petered out.

β€œI guess it was an okay plan, but I do have some notes,” Bertrand said as he pulled out some papers.

β€œWhy don’t we just take the win and figure out where this thing came from,” Creedance suggested as she steered them back towards town.
