Chapter 20: Quesadilla Axe?

β€œHey, there’s the best blacksmith on this side of the portal network,” William heard a smooth voice call behind him. The folf turned around to find a man with dark hair, green eyes, and a beard standing there. β€œName is Adrian, and I need a favor.”

β€œWhat kind of favor,” William asked cautiously. He had seen Adrian around the Guild houses but had never interacted with him. There was always a little something about this human that seemed suspicious.

β€œI found this ancient weapons blueprint, and from what I hear, you’re the best around when it comes to weaponsmithing,” the green eye human explained as he pulled out a tattered piece of paper. Cheese and grease stains made most of the paper unreadable, but some fragments remained intact. β€œI want an axe like this one,” Adrian continued, pointing to a picture of a cheese quesadilla.

β€œThat’s a fast food menu,” William exclaimed, annoyed as he turned to walk away. This had to be someone’s idea of a joke. Adrian was clearly playing some sort of prank for his own amusement. The folf didn’t have time for this as he walked away but was stopped when two hands found his shoulders.

β€œAre you telling me the best sexiest smith in the whole guild can’t make me the weapon I desire,” Adrian sensually whispered as he rubbed the Arctic folf’s shoulders. β€œI can more than make it worth your time.” William had to physically stop himself from cracking the human’s nose with the back of his head. Instead, he pushed the former pirate off him before stepping back.

β€œOk, if you agree to stop all of that and pay for materials, I’ll see what I can do,” William offered as he finally gave up on being able to walk away from this one.

β€œIs that all? Are you sure you don’t want any other favors,” the flirtatious human offered as he struck a sexy pose. Adrian saw the look in the grey folf’s eyes, dropped the pose, and agreed to the terms of the deal. William took the tattered paper and left to find a forge.

Over the next week, William carefully worked metal to make the weapon. An axe was the obvious choice to complement the shape of the quesadilla. From the bottom of the tortilla axe head, the folf smith added extra metal to look like melting cheese leaking from the shell. The haft was shaped like a fork, with one of the tines spearing the cheesy treat. While the grip was wrapped in a comfortable white fabric with enough of a tail to look like a napkin.

β€œYes, this is perfect,” Adrian mused as he swung his new axe around. He did a test chop into a piece of wood and was pleasantly surprised when cheese flowed from the gash. β€œThis is a wonderful weapon! Are you sure there isn’t something more you want as payment?” The dark-haired human was already working on his belt.

β€œNo. Enjoy your axe,” William said plainly as he packed his tools. β€œIt was one of the more interesting weapons I’ve made.”
