Chapter 10: Crystal Wyrm - mountain sound - 263 words

5. Draw or write about your character taking shelter in the crystalline caverns the wyrm came from.

The swamp-colored Dinakian dashed into the cavern swiftly. In her tracks followed a shifter, who did an ungraceful dive into the opening to avoid getting chewed on. Hiisi pulled him further in hastily, just in time before the huge wyrm struck the side of the mountain. Its colossal body hit the masses that held both stone and crystal, and the impact shook the whole cavern for possibly miles like an earthquake. The violent sound of the creature's snapping jaws scraped at the crystal-lined walls like iron claws.

For their fortune, the serpent grew tired of the unwinnable game quickly - that, or someone got whacking it outside the tunnel. When it turned away, and the dragon's shadow retreated, both Caspian and Hiisi could finally breathe.

The bipedal reptile snapped her gaze to the Athos, her normally slit pupils dilated from the cavern's dim lighting. "Explain - now."

Caspian lifted his shoulders to his ears near instinctively. He slowly and awkwardly turned to Hiisi, and his mouth morphed into a thin line. Only when the Dinakian's razor-sharp stare hit his own, he spoke.

"Okay, okay, okay," the eternal repeated the same word as if it gave it more impact. "I might've accidentally thrown a crystalblood dagger into its mouth." He didn't let Hiisi get a single word in before he continued: "And it might be lodged in its gums."

Hiisi watched the shifter as he squirmed in place like a dog that had torn the living room's couch to shreds. Of course. She got up without saying a word, and headed back to the cavern's opening.
