The Tales of Kassin Omaga: Kassin and Kaytyln help Captain Dahn

Prompt #4 - Captain Dahn

 

It was an amazing concept, a world that functioned and thrived above the cloud where if it should settle to the ground would mean death? Almost like a fantasy game or story made real as he arrives upon the ship to one of the bigger ship cities, the splendor and beauty not lost on him by any means. “Welcome to avangard” the captain calls out as they dock.

Folk on the ship were not too accepting of the Business dress man, thinking he was dead weight on the ship that demanded all pitch in, but Kassin not only pitched in, but he did more without any complaint, and all without demanding a thing. In fact he turned down most offers for food and drink that was saved for him as he gave it off to the others who were in more of a need, this alone gave most of the ship hands opening up to the business man as a friend who just dresses too fancy is all.

 

To Kassin though, they are just being silly, he came to expect all hands to work and he was not afraid of any sort of hard work, even more so since he managed to work and deal with the captain for the trip here. Heh, honor among business deals may be dead to some lowly serpent, but he is no mere lowly serpent. Your words become slippery as soap, and you will start to have no one to be able to hold on to your words as you work your deal.

 

Helping the crew with docking, Kassin nodded to the captain of the airship that brought him here and decided to take on the mission the captain asked him to do. Find Captain Dahn at the Starfall Tavern and help him with his trouble.Now he was assured this was nothing as drastic as to kill someone or the like, Kassin was adamant on that note. His day of wanton destruction and Murder long passed, reality too short for any of that nonsense to be honest.

 

As he step onto the city air ship, his brain play back some memory of old, memory he thought he forgotten by now. Faces, his death, his victims. It's really odd, it's not like he regretted it, it was a dark time in a dark world where might make right. So what is it if not regret? He frown as he think to himself as he start to think back and he realize…he annoyed…annoyed that he was so wasteful of life. There was so much potential and possibility in everyone and he wasted it all by killing them for little more than cause he was an dumb ass monster. He chuckle as he think how that the way it goes when you get older, you start to realize just how much of an idiot you were as an kid.

 

After a few questions for direction by the locals, he found the Starfall Tavern and entered it, a seedy spot for sure. Kassin already sees some of the more questionable locals eyeing him up as a mark based on his suit, heh, guess that his fault for looking the part of someone with influence. Still Kassin fear no one as he skim the room to find the captain he is meant to find,

 

Shimmering wings that heavy scar from battle big give away, but the olden captain attire helps as well, do not see dock hand wearing such outfit. He walks up to Captain Dahn and takes a seat beside him, much to the captain's annoyance. He made it clear he not interested in company at the moment but Kassin just grin and inform him he repaying a debt and is here to help him with his problem

 

Captain chuckled at that, hint of disbelief that his problem was solvable with one person but with the cost of repairing his ship due to his problem… reluctantly Captain Dahn opens up that his ship gets attacked by constructs that try to eat the hull of his ship. Right now he got a big order coming in and he can not afford to risk this kind of attack.

 

Kassin nodded and smiled, assuring him that he can help him if he will accept him as a ship hand for the run. Naturally Captain Dahn tried to lower the shiphand wages due to not having experience on airships but Kassin turned that down, admitting his service free, paid for by Captain Dahn friend booking him for free to come here.

 

Well hard to say no to free labor, but Captain Dahn warns him he will not tolerate slackers. Kassin assures him he will pull his weight and more. Next few days, the ship will be repaired, and the goods are set down below deck and secured. Kassin admires the mix of steampunk and magic this ship seems to run on, Not the type of tech he has business working with. He walked to a few damage sections to look at how it looked, clearly the machine was built to cut through metal and wood.

 

His mind races over the mental picture, the creature not too big, so they are small for ease of mass production. Guess you only need to get so much of the right damage done to take down the airship, no need for a massive creature to get that done. Seems like it will be easy to deal with single handedly but it will be a pain to deal in swarms.

 

Before long when the ship was ready to cast off, Kassin notice an familiar fox girl and her penguin pet, well less pet and more servant of an eldritch being, curious how such an entity become bound to this Girl, but he seen crazier so he not going to inquire at all. Still he makes a point not to stare at the Creature known as Franz for too long, as prolonged exposure gives him an migrain, like trying and failing to see what others try to see in those magic eye pictures.

 

Kassin figures it best not to get in her way as they work, meanwhile the ship takes off and heads to the route to another city with its precious cargo. All the while the crew are anxious for what to come, knowing that by mid way an attack will occur. The ship was under manned for that reason alone which meant all hands had to double the shift, and sadly Kay failed to realize that coupons to Varick tailor shop was not really as grand of an motivation to do better.

 

Dead of the night, and the alarm was ringing for the attack. Kassin nearly run into running Mech Fox of color Pink, Which Kassin wish that could have been the strangest thing he saw thus far in his life…Maybe that will sit right up between Armor Hamster Cannonball that armor exploded out as frag when landed then run back to be armor up and shot again, and between Neko/Squid Hentai Demon Mech Warrior… Kassin wishes he has the frailty of his human side and starts suffering from Memory lost in his old age.

 

Weapons are drawn and cannons fire at the swarm of constructs heading for the ship, the Captain calls for arms as the crew frenzy into protecting the ship but it was clear panic was in their eyes. Kassin walks out as he sees the side filled with scrambling crew trying to get a shot, and did the Mech Fox just put a red Brick into her arm bracer to charge up her earth power effect? Curious, but as she started to blast with earth power, it was clear the swarm was moving under the ship and out of sight of attack.

 

Kassin frowned, at this rate…while the rest aimed at the swarm that was still coming in, the ones that got past could be doing serious damage. He focused for a moment as a symbol of his goddess burned brightly on his forehead for a second when suddenly flaming molten wings erupted from his back without burning his clothing. Taken off into the air, he dive bomb down over the side of the ship and move under, seeing the small construct with wings chewing the woods and more joining them..Kassin doubt he can use his power without harming the ship, he has not train his power that much since he been here, not yet anyway.

 

Flying up side the ship with the crew who watch in awe, The command to keep shooting from the captain snaps them out of it as they keep firing. Good, Kassin needs them to keep at it as he looks at Pink Fox Mech and motions her to come down here. She shook her head and shouted she was too heavy to fly. Annoyed, Kassin assures her she will be okay, but despite his encouragement, Kay ties a rope around just in case. She jumped overboard, running along the side of the ship before jumping onto the back of Kassin, ugh, yeah, she was Heavy!

 

Surprise the guy was still airborne while she was on his back, let alone the molten wings not burning or damaging the suit, the Intern seemed a bit more confident, while Kassin seriously wondered how old school tech was this mech made of that it was this heavy. Instructing her to put her power against his back, she does so reluctantly. At first she was afraid she was hurting him as her earth energy was starting to tear his outfit, but Kassin was able to register her energy and resonated with it, drawing it in.

 

It was hard to do, the desire to kill or harm made the energy wild to resonate, but the desire to hold back and push the energy forward made it easier. A trick he learns as he draws the Earth into him and focuses on his arms. He focuses the flowing energy to mingle, swirling into one energy, Fire and Earth. Together they Make Metal. She was sharing a lot of energy as Kassin smiled, he can not make a normal attack so he has to focus, though sadly the best idea is a bit cringy.

 

He made his hand as a gun gesture and started to finger bang bullets into the construction at the ship, shooting them down with each shot. The enemies fall before the energy is finished so he flows to the hull of the ship and use the last bit for this dou casting to cover the damaged hull with metal plating. It was at that time, Kay shouted as she started to draw Kassin energy from him, turning the tide to fire a wave of metal harpoon into more swarms of enemies. Kassin looks over and seems to ponder how to deal with this and smile. 

 

He still has magic from his world. He asks Kay for the Brick of Earth Element, which again was reluctant at first, but handed to him as he flew to the ship, dropping her off. He thanked her and told her he will be back. Earth is not his element, ironically it was the element his brother was close to. Still, all things considered, he can feel what he is able to do and knows what needs to be done…he fly with insane speed, as he holds the brick to his chest. He stops before the swarm and starts to focus.

 

The sky around the swarm starts to static with energy, affecting the elements…okay, that's it. He flies back to Kay and hands her the brick and his Sky Weapon. He instructed her to take in his energy and force it into his weapon and we can be done with this. Not sure what he means, she does, charging the energy through her mech and then through the weapon.

 

Suddenly a thunderous eruption is heard as a massive bolt of lightning erupted, dancing through the sky, and piercing every construct flying at them, fanning out to take each one out. The bolt of lighting dances and jumps like a ravenous dragon seeking its flying meal as the sky burns with metal and ozone. Kay seemed stunned as she did that as Kassin grinned and took his weapon back.

 

The Crew cheer and congratulate Mecha Pink Fox as Kassin steps back and turns off his ability before walking toward the back deck, seeing Franz laying in a yard chair, soaking the sun as he slurps a drink with anchovies on ice in a bucket next to him. Kassin takes the seat to watch the sky with the supposed penguin in silence.
