Rogtuk's Musings: Holiday Crowd

Chapter 5: Holiday Crowd

Prompt: Draw or write about your character navigating holiday traffic.

_____

Rogtuk held his parcel above his head as he and his company navigated the crowd. He was used to large gatherings back in homeland that would often feel like no one could take a step without running into every person around them. But never had the feeling been so literal.

He took the front, being the largest between himself, Ginger, and Seifer. As he pushed through the crowd, Rogtuk felt a small tug on his shirt as Ginger firmly grasped it- forcing the two to become a singular unit. Behind both of them was Seifer, who’s standoffish disposition was doing him no favors in this scenario. Everyone in the crowd saw each other as nothing more than another passing face, another obstacle to get past- and Seifer’s scowling expression wasn’t anything unique.

β€œOf course there’d be traffic going against us as we try to get home.” Seifer grunted as someone bumped against his shoulder on the way past.

β€œThink that’s why that parkat wanted to meet up with us so out of the way?” Ginger suggested, holding her hat down on her head with her free hand. Spicy hovered a couple feet above the crowd, flexing his stinger in irritation at how often he was being bumped.

β€œI didn’t even know there were this many people.” Rogtuk grunted, lifting his package even higher into the air as he passed by a few other tall folk in the crowd. β€œI hope this doesn’t get damaged. I don’t know if I’ll be able to get another one if it breaks.”
