Chapter 7: Pollen Problems

April 3rd

Dear Diary

I wish Spring wasn’t an assault on my way of life. I love seeing everything come back to life after several cold months of Winter. That is if I could see anything. As soon as the flowers bloom and the trees release their pollen, my eyes itch and water. They hurt so bad. I take medicine for it, sure, but it never feels like enough.

I’ve talked to Harvest Moon about it and she mentioned something about eating raw honey. I bought some from a local beekeeper. There wasn’t even all that much since the bees haven’t been up for long. But it's so viscous in this opaque way that makes it look like baby food. I can’t bring myself to try it. Maybe if I put it on some toast with jam, close it up, and do not look at it while I’m eating, I’ll be able to do it.

I can’t stand this anymore. I think I almost scratched my eyes out from all of the itching. They’re swollen and red. I finally ate some of that raw honey. The thing that really sucks about natural remedies is how long it can take for them to kick in. I’m taking more allergy medicine. At least Araneus looks like its enjoying Spring. Plenty of bugs to catch.

Really stinks how fear of bugs includes spiders. Mint Chip could really benefit from a pet spider. Oh, maybe I should get him a fly-catching plant? Venus fly traps are cool and all, but pitcher plants are prettier. I’ll ask Harvest Moon what she thinks.

Okay, yeah, I’m starting to see the merit in this. Apparently, it has something to do with microdosing my body with the pollen in the honey to help it learn how to handle the other pollen. Pretty interesting. I still itch, but it isn’t as bad for as long. I’m able to help with the rebuilding of Ponyville.

More importantly, I’m able to enjoy the warm weather and lovely cool breezes that sweep through the grass. Spring flowers smell so fresh and I just didn’t know that until now. And there are so many more butterflies and birds flying around than I ever realized. Spring is beautiful in Ponyville.
