Chapter 3: an unwanted gift - 251 words

7. β€œYou don’t have to fear me,” says the Godspawn, who waits for you, but still circles like a predator. β€œWe can remake you so you’ll never be afraid, and you can reject weak, mortal flesh.” Draw or write your character confronting this temptationβ€”though you must resist it to win this battle!

She circled the strange being, both hands held firmly behind her back - or however they had the patience to stay there. The Godspawn huffed. "A strange guise to wear."

Slinkee raised its bright purple brow. "We could say the same about yours."

As a reply, it received a dark chuckle. "Intimidation isn't your strong suit, now is it?"

The thing with a pale yellow hide blinked, its eyelids drooping from unimpressed boredom. A strange wave emanated from the gesture along its body. Every inch of its rubbery hide covered itself in countless eyes that imitated the original two. After one had blinked, another appeared after, as its predecessor disappeared from view. Like a ripple from the very first blink, a ring of eyes appeared, blinked once, and disappeared for the whole length of Slinkee's tubular body, going through every limb and detail. Its chest deflated as it exhaled. "One could say that."

The girl halted, and stood still, just as unimpressed as the creature that stared back at her. This one was a puzzle she wasn't prepared for. Had heard no warnings. There were promises to make, but for something like this - it was, sadly, unnecessary.

"We are aware," the sallow thing spoke over her thoughts. It made the Godspawn flinch. A grin molded itself onto Slinkee's face like chiseled marble. The smile grew fangs, multiple and crooked. A second set of molars cut themselves out of its skin underneath the first sneer.

"Things like you have nothing to give us."
