“I can’t see anything,” complained Trigger, looking far more green in the face than Kyanoko remembered him being the last time she saw him. She helped him into one of the caverns, squinting against bubbles and flashes of colors as Trigger clutched his false eye. The tanuki kept her eyes on her feet until they were away from the sun and shade. The crystals around them still bounced light inside, but it wasn’t nearly as intense as whatever was happening around the great wyrm outside.
“Just sit here and put your head on your knees,” Kyanoko instructed, helping the human lay himself against the cavern wall. He groaned, sounding as if he was barely keeping down sick.
“I’ve never had something mess with my eye like that before,” he shared after taking a minute to take steady, deep breaths. “Damn, it’s going to be useless if that thing keeps throwing those… painbows around.”
“At least you’re well enough to joke.” Kyanoko sighed. She probably would have laughed if she wasn’t so scared. “This cave looks familiar…”
“They all look the same to me.” Trigger said, looking around the cave walls.
“I hid a few aging barrels here when I got here. Thought that it might make the sake a little more… interesting.” Kyanoko felt her stomach drop as she thought of an idea and released a heavy sigh. “Damn, I wanted to drink some myself. But I guess that won’t matter if I’m not alive for it.”
“Holy shit, you’re not going to drug the thing, are you?” Trigger released a laugh and immediately stopped, holding his palm against his eye.
“Dragons love sake where I’m from. Let’s see if this thing likes it, too.” Kyanoko confirmed, heading deeper into the cave.
