Recovering In The Cathedral

Prompt #1 - The Mushroom Cathedral

Just outside the Olearius Spaceport stands a cathedral carved out of a tree that fell centuries ago. Instead of stained glass, carefully cultivated fungi decorate the walls and ceiling with exquisite depictions of the universe. The cathedral stands for no particular religion, but it is a popular place for marriages to be held. Draw or write your character visiting the Cathedral. Your piece must include your character in the inside or outside of a cathedral carved out of a fallen tree.

...

As Atticus gets his bearings, he manages to find refuge in the massive and elegant looking Cathedral. The orange candle light draws in his aching bones and he slumps up against one of the church steps, tears welling in his eyes. He has fought a mighty battle, one that many could not bear the weight of. Words cannot describe the confusion and fear running through his veins as he tries to figure out where he has ended up. His heart pounds and his realization sinks deeper and deeper within the core of his being. He hasn't felt this way since...

It's only when a couple of concerned voices catch his attention. His ears are ringing, but the comfort of tended wounds and their reassuring tones seems to bring him back.

    This turned out so beautiful, I will always treasure this piece. The pain which Atticus experiences is so well drawn, it immediately draws me as the viewer into the scene and makes me want to comfort him.

    I'm also super amazed by the way you paint, how you manage to meld the background together with the characters, the scene is so super atmospheric and no matter where I look, there's something new to see. The lighting is very well done, too, and you did each character so much justice ;//;

    Thank you for having included Nae, he's a very special character to me and seeing him in your style, helping someone in need, means so much!
