Scap's talisman. No, not the mask itself, but the charm of crystal beads that sits attached at the top left corner of his mask.
The largest jewel is not stone or crystal at all, but glass, shot through with ribbons of color that give it a marble-like appearance. Its function? Almost purely decorative. Something large and shiny enough to make it difficult to misplace. Still, it's no ordinary glass trinket - it also allows him to read the status of his own energy levels by syncing with the one above his heart.
The string of seven or eight beads that hang beneath are smaller, but much more valuable and much more volatile. Crudely processed jump crystals, able to form rifts to other dimensions when crushed between the hands.
Granted, you'd need very strong and very hard hands, because they are, after all, still rocks. Fortunate that Scap's hands are partially plated in a bone-hard covering.
(You could use your boots, or a hammer or rock... but that reduces the amount of control you have in spreading out the rift dust. Then you'd end up with a very concentrated wormhole that'll take you layers deeper than you ever wanted to go.)
On occasions where Scap needs to return to Katanorias, he can't simply wish his way there and tumble through layers like a certain dimensional half-drakon can (and even so, it's hardly up to Paiko to choose where he lands). He uses the bottom-most pink bead to get there, and replaces it whenever he goes back to the lab. But to avoid annoying Theschor and Eichrynn, he tries not to waste these materials.
For each new world he visits, he documents the location into one of the upper beads with a special paint. Despite having some freedom now as an adventurer, he's still doing a bit of research for Katanorias, trying to find a way to make portals to specific places. It's complicated work, and not entirely successful. At least, if anything, he has something to remember his travels by.

Also Smoothie kid please don't hunt me down for seeing most of your face, again qwq
Energy level is important for Scap to keep tabs on! Scap has a curious magic-related version of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) - probably because he's supporting an extra... ah but that's more lore that I can't spoil yet
(You can see his face, don't worry He won't hunt you down. Unless you take a picture and show it to Paiko. That's a big no-no)
(*holding a camera* well this is awkward jkjk XD)
