Samuel Browns' Fantastical Discoveries!: Talisman

"Hello, world! It is my first day as an adventurer/explorer/researcher! I am SAMUEL BROWNS, a perfectly ordinary human... who is also an explorer! In this book, I will be writing all my fantastical, magical journeys and discoveries! I hope to use it often. This book is also my talisman! I remember when I first arrived in the Overworld city, I went to a small bookshop, looking for something like this... The kind shopkeeper let me take it for free, when he learned of my... financial issues. I am incredibly grateful to that kind shopkeeper, and I will have somewhere to keep my badges! On the cover, of course, with all these pretty stickers I also found in the shop. Those were pretty cheap so I actually DID pay for them! I hope you don't think I'm broke... money is something I'm working on... Cue me sighing.

Oh right. Badges are basically what you get when you journey through a portal. I hope to collect them all, and showing people my research will also show off my badges, haha! He is smirking while writing this. I bet I'll have a bunch, and then I can flaunt them and prove how good of an adventurer I am.

Sadly, I have not gone any expeditions yet... But I will soon!! And when that time comes, you will know ALL about it. Trust me. Although I'm still not ready, I need to figure out where to go first... so many amazing places up here in the Overworld... to discover! I'm excited to meet all the different species, it gets tiring when everyone is a demon human.

Azaria collapsed into his cozy tree branch as he wrote the last word and shut the book with a snap. He had decided to sleep in a tree tonight. Not the best idea, but he had to stay hidden. Smiling to himself, he thought of what he wrote. He really was excited to venture around, especially into portals. He had heard about beautiful waterfalls, colorful trees, the ghostly moss that carpeted the ground of someplace... He sighed dreamily. Oh, how nice it would be... if he could live there. But he had to be on the move. He'd have to be careful of unstable portals, he could get trapped inside and.... who knows what would happen to him then. His life's goal was to travel the world, and he was determined to do just that. 

And yet, he shivered as the cold breeze whipped against his face and threatened to topple him out of the tree. Maybe he would need to work on getting protection, like armour. And maybe a blanket while he was at it. But for now, he just wrapped his coat around him tighter looked up at the stars... so distant, but he'd never seen them this close before. In the Netherworld, all that was up above was stalactites of stone.

Thinking about that, he drifted off into an uneasy sleep.
