Submisions: Weekly Prompt #104: Candy outfit

"Draw/write about your character in a candy themed outfit or situation. What kind of sweets do they wear? Or maybe they prefer something sour? Do they take a swim in a chocolate lake or another candy landmark?"

 

It's Martyrs' Feast in Temeraire, spesifically, it would have been in Ufira. It was a holiday very similar to Halloween, sort of, it's like a cross between Halloween and fictional religious beliefs amongst several other things. They have many traditions during this holiday including costumes and snacks, just like Halloween, costumes can be anything you want them to be. They range from smaller, less noticable costumes, to larger more elaborate costumes.

 

As Aza has not been Temerairian noblty for quite some time now, the realization that he could dress as whatever he wanted without judgment had hit him suddenly. Alagasia does not celebrate the same holidays as Temeraire, and Ufira had fallen just as long ago as Aza had stopped dealing with nobles, with Ufira being the only city that celebrated Martyr's Feast, overall the holiday itself had almost died entirely. However as holidays are cultural and Aza quite enjoyed it when it was still around, he had convinced his partner to help him come up with a costume.

 

A terrible decision really, Dominic is almost zero help when it comes to costume ideas, despite also being from Temeraire and having visited Ufira before it had fallen. Though, despite this he did get an idea.

 

Aza's sister Lyra wouldn't be very much help either, especially considering she no longer speaks to him. Though Aza thinks she'd still like a costume of her own so he decides to get one for her too. He thinks about what he could do, what kind of costume to make. Eventually he decides on something food themed, small and cute even.

 

He had sat everyone he knew down who would listen and decorated their faces with candy themed face paints, most of his friends did comply, especially considering how excited he got to tell them about his favorite holiday from his homeland. He looks at the slime he put in a jar during his first combat prompt. He thinks it would make a good gumdrop.

 

The slime is released from the jar and decorated into a gumdrop, it's now the cutest slime that has ever existed. Aza draws a little face on it, it is now a little friend.

 

At one point during this entire face painting 'rampage' Aza's partner had taken the time to make an icecream cone hat, a cardboard cone decorated to look like an ice cream cone with a string attatched to it in order to keep it on ones head. It was gently placed upon Aza's head when he least expected, and now he just looks like a melted vanila ice cream.

 

Today is one of the few Aza "No thoughts head empty." days, this means that it is a good day. Everyone enjoys it when Aza doesn't think too hard, the pros are we all get free friendship and face painting, the cons are his IQ dropped to room temprature, either way this entire interaction ends with Aza wearing himself out by the end of the day and passing out on his own couch at 2 am.
