Chapter 1: Jiongu's Talisman - The Black Arrow.

"So, Jiongu, how does it feel to have been betrayed by...oh, I don't know. Demons? I mean, really. A truce with creatures like us could only last so long." Through the mouth on his stomach, Jiongu had spoken in with snobbish tone rich with the contempt he'd felt towards himself for allowing such events to happen.

"Oh, but my good sir, surely you understand that I was trying to see if we were capable of change." Spoken from the mouth up top, Jiongu looked further down the dirt road he'd been trekking across for quite some time now. The journey had been long, quiet, and boring. So what better a way to pass the time than by talking to himself?

"Looks to me like they plan on changing without you." the mouth on his stomach laughed.

"Let them. Sooner or later, I'll return. And when I do, I'll bring about a change the likes our people haven't seen in centuries." Jiongu growled, unable to help himself from clenching the teeth of both mouths. But when he realized it, as well as the fact he had stopped moving, he cleared his throat and continued on.

"And how do you reckon you'll do that?" the mouth on his stomach frowned. "You don't have most of your power, most of your horns, and definitely not anyone that'd help you."

"That may be so. But I do still have one thing." With a smirk, Jiongu reached into the maw on his gut and pulled out an arrow.

Jiongu uncomfortably shifted, the cold from the metallic, grey colored shaft of the arrow transferring over and into his hand. Bringing it up, the edges of his mouth lowered, eyes going half lidded as they fell on it's lower half. Or rather, where the lower half should be. But he decided not to lament over what was lost. Instead, his gaze went further up and affixed itself the arrowhead and its familiar ebony hue. Losing part of the shaft was fine. Losing the rest of it would've been fine as well, but he'd never have forgiven himself if he'd managed to lose the arrowhead.

Like himself, it'd lost much of its former glory, no longer decorated in golden, intricate designs and lines meant to depict portions of his story. But the fact remained that it was the last memento of his mother, an arrowhead created from one of her fangs.

Taking a deep breath, Jiongu would press his forehead to the arrow then let a heavy sigh roll out from the mouth over his stomach. While not one for sentimentality, seeing as his kind regarded it as weakness, he couldn't help the emotions that welled up whenever his thoughts went to her. She had given him life. And when she passed, a way to defend himself.

"If someone finds you doin' that, they'll think yer weird." he'd spoken from his stomach.

"I'm practically wearing rags, have horns sticking out from the sides of my head, walk bare foot - on my toes, mind you - and have a mouth on my stomach." pulling it away, Jiongu let his arms fall to his sides and kept his grip on the arrow as he started down the path again. "I'll look weird no matter what I do."

"Not gonna put it away?" he asked himself.

"While in an unknown world? Without the majority of my power?" Jiongu laughed and then looked up as he felt a drop of water land against his forehead. The sky had been clear a couple of moments ago. Now, it looked as if the very heavens were about to come down on him. So if he'd missed the weather change, what else had he missed? Had someone seen him? Maybe even heard him talking to himself?

"...Y'know, it may not be the best idea to talk like this while out in the open." Jiongu looked to the ground after feeling several more droplets fall from the clouds.

"Definitely not." the mouth on his stomach responded, causing the one up above as well as on his abdomen to snigger before he continued on.
