Chapter 2: recollected - 358 words

1. You have received a notice about one of the gifts you ordered for someone dear to you. It instructs you to pick it up in person, and gives you a specific time-- the very same day! You rush to the address to find your package waiting for you, but there's something a little strange. Draw or write about your character picking up their package from a suspicious caretaker.

"Who would you even get a present for? You got no friends."

"Har-dee-har-har," Caspian answered to Hiisi's jest in a flat tone. The two kept walking side by side, snow crunching under their feet as they did. In moments like this, Caspian would've given anything for warm shoes. The thing was, that there weren't really any, that covered a whole, clawed foot like his. They usually didn't have soles. Didn't help when it was below freezing outside.

"Okay, but seriously." The Dinakian took a few longer steps - a lot more than Caspian did in the same time frame. Someone should've banned this guy from legs in general, sheesh. Hiisi rushed to get ahead of the eternal, halted, and turned to the man. "Who did you get the gift for?"

Caspian stopped as his path got blocked. He shrugged nonchalantly. The shifter spread his arms a little within the small amount of room his jacket gave for his hands in its pockets.

It wasn't a surprise that he didn't remember - but why follow a shady lead, then? Hiisi rolled her eyes and let out a frustrated groan. "You need help, Caspian."

The eternal gave the remark an amused sneer. "Yes," he admitted, and stepped to the side to pass the snake hybrid. "A thousand years ago. It's a bit too late now."

The Dinakian had to jog to catch up to him. Dude had the tendency to walk even faster when upset. Figures.

Caspian came to an abandoned-looking crossroads, Hiisi following close behind. The Athos eyed the wrapped item on the ground, packaged neatly with decorative ribbons on top. Something skipped into the shadow as though it was in a hurry. Caspian could make out a dark, cat-shaped silhouette with white paws. Of course it had to be a cat. Why wouldn't it be?

Hiisi leaned against the man's lean frame, slightly out of breath. "Is that it?"

Caspian nodded affirmatively, even though he wasn't sure. It must've been, though. This was the address, wasn't it?

He should've written it down.

Hiisi bumped the shifter's arm with her elbow. "Pick it up then and let's get going. I'm freezing."
