Spirit Scout Chronicles Book 1: Scouts Unite, Enemy Revealed

Kaia stopped on her way out of the door. The television had announced that since her school had been demolished by so-called anti-education terrorists, school was cancelled for the duration of the school year.

"Looks like you can go back to bed," said her mother mail in hand, "why would some one try and destroy your school?" An envelope with the Mugen School insignia had been mixed in with the usual junk mail. "Oh look honey," said her mother, "A new private school has opened up in the district and they want you to attend!"

"Private school?!" Kaia whined, "And here I thought I was gonna have a holiday!"

A car honked in front of her house. "Kaia do you have a friend with a convertible?" her mother asked wonderingly.

"That's Seth," Kaia cheered running out the door, "bye mom!" Raith waved at Kaia as she jumped into the back seat.

"What's up?" Raith asked.

"You get a letter from Mugen also?" Seth asked.

"Yeah, Mom's enrolling me today," Kaia replied.

"The other scouts should be there," Raith said, "Diana mentioned them transferring from their homes. One is from Tokyo and the other two from London."

"How many scouts are there?" asked Kaia wonderingly.

"There's six of us so far," Seth said, "Thunder, Fire, Earth, Ice, Water, and Spirit."

"Seth and I felt that whoever is behind the things Nero is doing has something to do with the new Mugen," Raith added, "We've checked all the records and many years ago the original Mugen school blew up under mysterious circumstances."

"We've already enrolled so I guess the three of us start tomorrow," said Seth.

"So much for vacation then!" whined Kaia.

"Stop whining, please!" Raith laughed, "Its slightly annoying."

Seth smirked, "You guys are gonna laugh your asses off at these uniforms." And from the back seat of the car he pulled out a forest green suit."

"Yuck!" exclaimed Kaia, "I'd rather wear pink!"

"So would I!" said Raith in disgust.

"Oh come on you two it'll be an adventure!" Seth laughed.

Meanwhile in London......

"Oh come on Marin it'll be fun!" a girl about sixteen years of age with blue hair coaxed.

"No! I'm not going to America!" said a girl who was about a year older than the first, "I won't go Sky!"

"Diana said the other scouts will be at Mugen!" Sky added matter-of-factly, "besides it has been months since we've had a battle!" Marin Nodded.

"Isn't that a good thing?" said Marin with a slight hint of sarcasm in her voice.

Sky kissed Marin. "Please?" she asked lovingly.

"No," sad Marin sternly, "especially with those puppy dog eyes of yours!"

"Please, Marin," Sky repeated innocently.

"Damn your eyes, they get me every time!" said Marin who had just caved.

Sky smiled. "Thanks lover I owe ya!" she said as she kissed Marin again. They both smiled.

"To America and a brand new adventure!" cheered Sky as the two boarded the earliest flight to America.

Back in America......

The next morning Kaia, Raith, and Seth along with all of the other students were hearded into the auditorium for orientation. The three stood in back waiting for the principle to approach the microphone.

"Good morning students I am Dr. Tomoe and I am the founder and principle of Mugen." said the doctor.

Raith eyed Dr. Tomoe "Does he seem familiar to you?" he asked, "I feel as though ive known him before."

"No," replied Seth.

Kaia yawned "Can we go to class now? I'm tired!"

Closer to the front of the room Sky was leaning her head on Marin while she listened causing many of the boys behind them to whistle and drool.

"Freshmen!" Marin muttered in disgust, "It'll be fun' you said 'don't worry it's and adventure' you said!"

"Shhh!," Sky said, "Patience. It'll get exciting after orientation!"

"How in hell do you know?" asked Marin sarcastically.

"Did you forget? I can sense adventure!" Sky replied happily.

"When I call your name please come here and go back stage." Dr. Tomoe instructed. "Skyler Alexander, Marin Fairchild," Dr. Tomoe announce.

"I didn't know your name was Skyler!" Marin joked as they walked up the stage.

"Mom wanted a boy, guess she got her wish!" said Sky as the two disappeared behind the curtain.

Dr. Tomoe called a few more names before calling Raith, Seth, and Kaia. When Dr. Tomoe finished calling names he dismissed all other students to their classes. Back stage Raith and Seth kept lookout for anything suspicious while Kaia mingled.

After giving their surroundings a good looking over Seth and Raith took Kaia to meet some people.

"Kaia meet Sky and Marin I'm sure you could guess who they are," said Raith, "Guys this I Kaia, aka Spirit!"

"Hi!" said Kaia enthusiastically, "it's nice to meet new scouts."

"Wow I love your hair!" said Sky while Marin was getting a little jealous.

Marin grabbed Sky's arm. "Nice to meet you but just know one thing," she said, "Sky's mine!"

"Now don't get huffy!" scolded Sky, "it was just a compliment." Sky turned her attention to the two boys. "Aren't you two broken up yet?" she asked jokingly.

"Sorry to break your heart Sky!" exclaimed Raith, "Well anyways it looks like most of us are here."

"Well I don't see Earth anywhere!" said Marin, "I guess he must have missed the memo." Sky's eyes went cloudy.

"Nero, he's here I can sense him!" she said, "but I don't see him.

In the back of the room a blonde boy with choppy hair stood staring directly at Dr. Tomoe.

"You all may be wondering why you are here!" said the Dr. "we've looked at your credentials and you all have special talents that may be of some use to this school. We have created a variety of tests to place you all in special classes."

The blonde boy closed his eyes and scoffed.

"Isn't that Lex?" Sky asked Marin.

"Damn I thought he stayed at home." Marin muttered disdainfully.

Dr. Tomoe looked at them. "As you can see we've set up tables. If you would please sit six to a table I will have your vice principle, Lila Tenko pass out the tests."

A woman with incredibly black hair with slight hints of purple walked into the room. "I am Ms. Tenko," said the woman in a hollow voice, "I'm pleased to see all of you."

Ms. Tenko passed out the tests and at last came to the table of the scouts. She handed the tests to the scouts one by one. As she handed Raith his test he got a feeling as though he knew her somehow.

"Raith," said Ms. Tenko, "Do you recognize me?"

"No," said Raith, "Why would I?"

"You'll know soon enough," said Ms. Tenko as she walked away.

Dr. Tomoe switched on half of the lights on the stage. "Wouldn't want you to ruin your eyes." He chuckled.

The test had started. About five minuets into the test the students started falling asleep. Soon all students but the scouts were asleep.

"Trap?" said Kaia in surprise.

"Yes my dear!" said Nero as he appeared from behind the curtain. "Now with these students energies I will destroy you now!"

"Not if we have anything to say about it!" screamed Kaia.

"Spirit Soul Power!" she cried with a raise of her hand.

"Fire Soul Power!" cried Seth.

"Thunder Soul Power!" called Raith.

"Ice Soul Power!" called Marin with a chill to her voice. Marin's armor was adorned with two snowflakes on her breast-plates. She held a majestic rod with the symbol of ice on its top.

"Water Soul Power!" screamed Sky who was full of energy. Her armor was a two-piece with seashell shaped breast-plates. She held a trident that was almost half a foot taller than her.

"Earth Soul Power......" said Lex reluctantly. His armor was covered in a thorn pattern and from his back flowed a majestic cape. In his hands was a long thorn whip.

"Tidal Storm" Sky ordered twirling her trident to create a funnel of water aimed at Nero.

Marin aimed her rod at the water funnel "Ice Queen Surprise!" Shards of ice shot out of Marin's rod and into the water funnel turning it into large ice spears.

"Arise and Attack my lovely monsters!" demanded Nero. With his words crystals from the bodies of the fallen students arose. The crystals formed human figures that appeared to be made of clay. "Their hearts weren't broken but they still have some doubt in them!" Nero cackled.

"Damn!" said Sky, "What do we do now?" Just then dozens of monsters surrounded the sailors. Lex and Kaia were the only ones left unsurrounded.

One of the monsters grabbed Sky's leg a flung her half way across the room. In a fit of rage Marin used her powers to destroy the monster. "Sub-Arctic Death!" she cried and in a flash six of the monsters stopped moving and she shattered their bodies.

"Marin the crystals!" shouted Raith

"Fuck the crystals!" she said as she took out two more monsters.

"There's too many of them," said Kaia as she beamed a monster over the head with her rod.

"Seth where's Sky?" Raith said frantically.

"I'm here," she said sounding as thought she was in great pain.

"Kaia use your power and heal the spirits!" ordered Sky.

" Spirit Soul Power!" cried Kaia. With her power she restored all of the crystals to the sleeping bodies. The students however wouldn't wake up.

Nero picked up the partially lifeless body of sailor water. "Your days as a thorn in my side are over!" he said with a chuckle.

Sky was bleeding from her shoulder and mouth. With her remaining energy she let out a beam from her palm. "Tidal Blast!"

A blast of blue energy hit Nero in his head sending him flying into the wall. Now immobilized the students energies returned to them.

"Spirit Healing Power!" cried Kaia as she used her powers to partially heal Sky.

Ms. Tenko walked in, picked up Nero and shoved her hand through his heart. "You have failed me and ruined my perfect plan, you miserable wretch!" she said coldly. With Nero gone Ms. Tenko faced the scouts and revealed her true identity. Her short black hair grew almost ten feet and in place of her principals uniform was a long black dress. The dark star was visible on her forehead.

Just then the small pink cat entered the room. "Her!" screamed Diana, "Mistress 9! I thought you were dead!"

"Well cat still alive! I guess Saturn didn't tell you everything before she disappeared!" she smirked. "I was wondering who activated these amateurs!"

The group stared in awe, frozen in silence. A dark energy stronger than that of anything they had ever felt, have ever know was flowing from the woman's body. With a flick of her hand the scouts transformations failed leaving them defenseless.
