Chapter 1: One

She had heard the dispute between her parents even before noticing the cubic box left on her bedside.

About the dramatics that she'd caused with every suitor. About the fact that their mischievous daughter refused every bachelor who was carefully hand picked by her mother. About how it would all end soon. This next man's place would be set in stone in her life. But it wasn't until the day after she'd slept on it that she realised : her days of causing trouble for her parents were long gone.

Or, at least, she let them think so.

Before they could even realise, Nidra packs her bag to make her great escape. Of course, she loves her family dearly like any other child would, but she refuses to give up her freedom for the economic success of her parents. It's not like marriage (to the local grumpy wizard, no less) is the easiest way to ascend from commoner to noble, especially in an advanced society like her's, but it is the fastest. Regardless, she makes haste, grabbing item after item before moving on to her precious trinkets. She quickly snatches her favorites from their designated chest located under her bed.

However, even under pressure, Nidra's eyes manage to catch a sky-blue box. Huh? For as long as she has lived, she made sure to remember all of her findings. And this one wasn't one of them. It resembles a gift box and looks to be tied with a cherry-red ribbon forming a bow on it's top. For a lack of better words, it looks to be nothing special.

knock knock knock.

Three raps interrupt her train of thoughts. She almost forgot the task at hand. Behind the chipped door, she can hear the calls of her mother asking to come in. And before she can think about it, panic takes over her as she grabs the box along with her bag, and bolts to her window to drop down on the soft field of four leaf clovers. After the fall, she takes a minute to calm herself and proceeds to relocate further from her house. Once again however, she takes an interest in the blue box. It's size is about the same as her palm, and doesn't look like it can carry much. She hesitantly rattles the box close to her ear, expecting the sound of a ring clanking against plastic perhaps. Nothing. She then squints her eyes and examines the objet more closely. They then widen as she spots the fine letters inscribed on the box's bottom.

Al.

She can recognise that name anywhere, not only does it belong to a certain wizard but it also happens to be her (ex?) future husband's name. She assumes it to be some sort of courting gift to win her over. With a sharp scoff, she pulls the ribbon apart and before it has time to fall to the ground-

POOF!

The box opens and a creepy jester pops out with a loud scream, scared out of her mind, Nidra drops it to the ground. She expected anything but this. A ring, a small yet heartfelt message, anything. Not this. What was this anyways? What had she done to make the weirdo witch mad? Upon further investigation, she notices that It holds a small paper note. On it, is the word 'theif' written in big bold letters.

Oh. Well she certainly never remembers 'stealing' from that wizard. She chalks it up to mistaking one of his posessions for one of her trinkets. Oh well, she shrugs it off and departs.
