Brief biography:

Even if the legends speak of a powerful being that could simply end reality with a single thought, Lara Kai wasn't really insane or anarchic in nature. She wasn't always a cruel and ruthless Drifter who swiftly ended many lives like a candle dying out, or a storm that consumes those who stand in its way.

In fact, she was once a human student that was granted magical powers from a mysterious force. Lara was once secluded from the rest of the world due to how she felt "out of place", or even indifferent to society because of how mundane life was. She even had existential dread the moment she learned how to harness her powers for her sake and for those she cherished. Through her struggles, Lara once had a whole group of friends, whom she considers all her only family in this world. She became more loving and optimistic to herself and to the new world she entered, seeing all these fantastical people as her new companions and allies until the end of time.

But they were not real, were they? They were born because Lara gave a piece of her own soul in them, making them live free in the fantasy world she entered. She was their creator; she was their liberator as well, the only one merciful enough to give all of creation the freedom they deserve. And yet she retained her humanity for millennia, never wavering to let it go.

That humanity died when she found a variant of herself from another universe. This variant, dubbed "The Elementalist", sought to merge her soul with the elusive "Final Drifter", a being who exists as the last of the Drifters when they are on the brink of extinction; they are the collective will of the entire species, who sought at least one last successor to right the sins they had done unto themselves and others. Lara saw what the Elementalist once was - a student, just like herself, who had so much good in her heart and soul. But she went deep into the path of vengeance and hatred, going insane after realizing that nothing in her world even matters anymore.

She wished to stay by her side, even if the human-turned-Drifter herself would lose the one thing she held above all power and all of life: Humanity. Lara cannot let the Elementalist be alone anymore. She wanted to give her peace. And so, sacrificing her own self and identity, she merged her spirit with the Elementalist's human soul, hoping to bring about the eternal rest she deserved for so long, including herself.

But it resulted in bringing a cosmic nightmare. With the Elementalist and the Final Drifter becoming one entity, two variants that should not co-exist yet still complete one another, a new version of the same girl was born from the ashes of her two selves. The old Lara was no more, and neither was the Elementalist as well. There is no one left to protect from the worst of things in the universe she called home.

She had a new name for herself, even if it was stolen from the Elementalist: Lara Kai, the Dayosa.

Evolved biography:

Due to the excessive exposure of magic, Lara is no stranger to the process of evolution of a Drifter. After living outside of the edges of her own home universe for countless millennia, she slowly loses her human appearance. This is the sacrifice the Final Drifter takes to truly become the Dayosa - one must let go of the life they cherish so deeply in order for their soul to pass on to the next phase of life. In this case, a Drifter's evolution is inevitable, even after death.

It is one of a metamorphosis, where she is transformed into something beyond human. This is when she is no longer just the Final Drifter. This is when she takes on the mantle of the Dayosa - the title meaning "Great Goddess" in the Drifters' broken language. But this is not the ideal image of a goddess, nor is it what legends and myths believed. This is who Lara is behind her mortal facade; this is her true self made real by magic. She no longer has to fear being hurt over and over, for pain is a familiar friend she knows too well.

She doesn't have a real name after this. But few have come to a deep conclusion: This Drifter-turned-Dayosa is the will to fight, the embodiment of that very will to survive, to push forward against all odds, to keep going even when hope is dead.

To fight the Dayosa is to fight yourself. This is a losing battle that was never meant to be won in the first place.

Description:

Lara Kai is a woman with nearly fair white skin, which was caused by excessive usage of her own powers. She has electric blue irises, with white diamond-shaped pupils surrounded by a dark blue border. She has long black hair with bangs swept to her right, covering her scarred right eye. Being the Final Drifter and the Elementalist combined, Lara Kai has shark teeth and two pairs of fangs.

Her main attire often consisted of pale white bandages, which was a result of multiple injuries in both lifetimes. She sports tight thigh-length grey shorts that functions as her leggings, and a black tattered poncho-like top that hides her torso bandages. Her main feature is her abyssal teal left arm, which is corrupted during her stay in the Nether realm. Her bandaged right arm is a reminder of her past life as the human Lara, who used her wrist to direct the mana to her heart, which burned her own arteries and veins if it wasn't for the immortality she had as a Drifter.

Evolved Description:

Being the full-blood Drifter she is, Lara Kai deviates from her human appearance heavily. While retaining aspects from her former self, she is a beastly (or draconic) version of her usual description, taking on a more elemental approach.

Her head has a pale face containing eyes with dark indigo sclerae. Her eyelashes are sharper, her eyebrows rougher and beastlike. She has heterochromia - possessing blue and pink irises with the star-shaped pupils containing the opposite colors. Her white teeth have become more sharper, while the insides of her mouth being more indigo compared to her former cyan colors. Lara's hair becomes wilder in the form of a long black flowing flame, mistaken for its inklike properties. This flame-like hair can move on its own, similar to that of Medusa's. The "face painting" is actually lightning-like markings by the corruption, which keep her head stable and fixed in shape alongside her whole body. A blue star symbol with an oval at its center is found on her forehead.

Lara's plasma body sticks to the palette of cyan to pink, with the corruption being dark indigo. The same corruption serves as "scales" to prevent her body from becoming too unstable to handle, which spreads out from her spine until her abdomen and purple thighs, giving the illusion of a small "skirt". Her lower legs and arms are always on fire, resembling "dragon fur", while possessing a pink-orange gradient fire crest on her plasma torso.
