Eternal Youth by Blood:

As vampires of his world maintain their eternal youth by the consumption of blood, this too is reflected in Renato. The aging process is similiar to a logarithmic graph, where the rapid changes in appearence slow down after about three months.

  • When he was has consumed blood within the past week or so, he takes on the appearence of a 20's-something man, full of youth and vigor. He is strong, supernaturally so, yet soft in frame. Supernaturally handsome, too. His cheeks are rosy, and Renato is warm to the touch. Vampires of this meal frequency tend to be difficult to spot among humans.

  • After about 40 days, Renato takes on the appearence of a middle-aged man, someone likewise in their 40's. He has begun losing his soft frame, as the fat burns away. The weight of his misery and guilt has begun entrenching itself in his wrinkled brow.

  • After 60-90 days, he now has the appearence of a much older gentleman, likely around his 60-70s. his eyes have sunken, and his cheeks are growing more gaunt. This is the standard appearence of Renato, as physical changes begin slowing down past this point. So long as he eats within the next several months, he will not progress past this point.

  • After a full year's time without blood, Renato has lost most of his human-seeming appearence. All body mass has left him, leaving him a shivering, emaciated shell of a man. His strength, too, has left him, requiring the use of a cane. He appears shorter, if only by the crook in his back. His eyes and cheeks have sunken into his skull, and one could count each individual rib on his body. His clothes don't seems to fit his tiny frame any more, but he tries to hide this from his fanatical followers with a peascod-bellied doublet. It is at this point that his followers begin to fall on their knees before him, begging him to save himself. Or, failing that, to steel themselves up, in order to force-feed him.

All of these outfits are not limited to a particular form, but simply other potential options one could use, and that could be interchanged and explored further. Feel free to use different colors palettes, patterns, and complexity in his garb to best fit your own artstyle and composition.

Written details:

  • As was prevalant among the wealthier class of the mid-16th century, ornamentation and opulence was key, in showing one's worldliness. A patterned jerkin, doublet, and trunk hose was common, with a fine laced silk collar, framing the jawline. The material of the canions and the shirt, which peeks through the slashed doublet and paned melon hose, is always a fine silk, left unpatterned due to the material itself.
  • Often the doublet is left unbuttoned, as this garment, especially in warmer portals, is inconcievably hot, compared to his homeland, a nigh constant winter.
  • In terms of layering, Vincent wears a shirt, topped with a doublet, then a jerkin, and then perhaps a cloak or cape. For his bottoms, he wears stockings, often fastened with ribbon or garter. Above that, a loose modified silk canions, which is seen peeking through the trunk hose, particularly paned melon hose.
  • As Vincent loses weight due to his "fasting", he often switches his loose doublet for a stiffened, padded one, known as a peascod belly, or bombast, in order not to worry his many diciples and acolytes. This garment is composed of padding, added to the belly, whilst maintaining the sharp waistline and back, creating a fine, almost two-dimensional silhouette.
