Nightmares Closing In: Down the Well - Prompt 4

The water sloshed as Brier moved to the side of the well and ran a desperate hand over the mossy stones, trying to find purchase - a way up.  Her focus was on this when a shadow crossed over her vision, blotting out the moon above for a moment and she heard a splash nearby. 
“Aw. Heckins.” she heard the source of the splash mutter.   

 

Brier turned from her study of the wall to see a young woman standing in an air bubble.  

 

“Oh! Are you all right?” she said.  Then realization dawned “You have air powers? Can you get us out of here?”  

 

The young woman scratched her head “I don’t reckon I can.  I’s best with bubbles, see?” She regarded Brier and then reached out a hand.  “But I can pull you in so you’s can stay dry?” 

 

Brier looked back to the wall, moss glistening in the moonlight.  She turned back and reached carefully into the bubble to take the woman’s hand.  

 

“I’s Ashira.” the woman said. 

“Brier.” Brier replied, settling on the floor of the bubble and wringing out her skirt. She gestured to the rapier in Ashira’s other hand.  “I like your sword.”  

 

Ashira smiled, motioning to the one at Brier’s waist. “Same”
