Chapter 1: Can you feel it?

[ 6. As you travel back to the house of the Godspawn in the dark woods, eldritch forces play tricks on your mind. Write or draw about your character’s visions of dark gods and foreboding prophecies, drawing on the Cthulhu Mythos or inventing your own entities using it as an inspiration. ]

How lonely.

Because of how reckless Arael has been, she’d fucked everything up.

Again.

A tug at her dress.

It was Lottie. She looked nervous.

“I think Lottie wants to go back home, Arael.” Lara chimed in after exchanging glances with her friend.

A frustrated sigh was all Arael could muster.

“Right. We should-”

Arael stopped.

She definitely heard something – and it seems Lottie and Lara noticed her uncertainty, too.

“Arael? What’s wrong?”

She had to act like the adult here, but…

Her options were pretty limited.

The deep woods were off limits for a reason, after all. But the temptation to seem like the ‘cool kid’ was a bit too inciting, and now Arael was paying for it.

She really wasn’t able to shake the feeling of feeling of being stalked and she chaperoned the children, but now it was just unbearable.

It… seemed to be just her, though. Lara had been blabbering confidently the entire time until Lottie picked up on Arael’s uncertainty and became nervous, and everything spiraled from there.

Nobody quite knows what the guardian of the deep woods is. Anyone foolish enough to go deep enough to cross its path never comes back, after all.

But the feeling of a piercing gaze was universal among those who decided whatever they wanted in the deep woods wasn’t worth it.

A gaze that could see into one’s soul itself.

Another tug.

“Arael, you’re freaking Lottie out!! Cut it out!”

To be watched and vindicated by the unseen to such an extent…

Arael couldn’t place it, but it felt like something familiar – but not quite to herself.
