Chapter 1: Toybox

The Alolan Meowth, Marverick was a little hesitant to bring the current team into the dungeon due to... valid circumstances that he is having to ensure an Iggybuff does not roam around, a Whismur getting lost and a Lunatone who is barely aware of their surroundings made him cringed at the thought of ‘how did he end up recruiting a team that needs a babysitter in the first place?’. He couldn’t say no to their faces, that’s all he could say in return thanks to their cute teary eyes.

As he guided the group over to the opened area, he stared at the quality out of curiosity by touching the dungeon walls. It is not made out of ordinary choices of a building but rather plastic as if it’s a container. Moving further without having to look at his map, he gazed from the above and widen his eyes. This is definitely not the normal dungeons he knew while working with different Pokemon. All of the aesthetics felt like these were for children and it creeps him out. 'Children' is one thing he has to take care of but having to see enormous sized toys and toy replicas of the buildings made him pale.

“Welcome to the Oversized Toybox. Or at least that’s what the sign says,” Synthesia muttered the words from the little sign from the toy replica building window. It was definitely written in a way with crayons that could be unreadable to an adult but readable to a child. She wasn’t unfamiliar with this place but she found comfort in the environment. Same goes to Merry as they scooted over to the side to watch the toy train chug along the lines from the above with steel bar monkey pipes go so far that nobody can reach them.

Wisteria was way too enthusiastic that she forgotten what was the goal of going into this dungeon in the first place. She dragged her team along to the train that was empty without a conductor and attempted to get it running by herself. Marverick was too shocked to begin with that he was majorly unconscious during this period, leading to Wisteria taking second in charge when Marverick is not conscious enough to lead the group.

“W-Wisteria, weren’t we suppose to investigate the missing Pokemon from this dungeon?” the Whismur was concerned if the Igglybuff has forgotten what the team was set out for. They aren’t here to play around though, as Synthesia looks at Merry in hopes she would agree with the Whismur, the Lunatone was dissociating the whole time during the conversation.

“I’m sorry, what were you saying?” the Lunatone gave an ‘ehe’ expression before causing the Whismur to cry loudly in fear that she was the only sane one left. That caused a few blocks to tumble over resulting Wisteria to have to press buttons to start the toy train immediately with the team without having knowledge on how to run it properly. While the toy train went fast enough to prevent the blocks from crashing onto them, the pathway back to the start of the train is blocked and so they will have to find another way or simply use the Warp... whatever Wisteria means by that.

Merry insisted to carry the unconscious Marverick on them while the two of the other Pokemon tried to follow their instincts instead to find the missing Pokemon requested. They are familiar with a Caterpie however, it was strange overall on why the Pokemon decided to go to the dungeon all by themselves. Through a few floors, the gang took their time and took breaks for a bit before walking further down the line. While Wisteria is being comical with her whimsical ideas about this dungeon, Synthesia is not having it and tried to wake up Marverick a few times but no avail.

That is until they finally reached the last floor but to no avail found the Caterpie they looked for. Confusingly, Synthesia tried looking around that might stark a huge difference and there is definitely a huge difference from the other floors. From what used to be a stuffy toybox with blocks being the walls and possible monkey bars around, the last floor is concerning filled with the brim of stuff toys of different Pokemon while a giant plush Pikachu towers the rest of the toys with a certain look. Uncomfortable by the sight of it, she looked away for a moment to try waking up Marverick one more time and a groan can be heard from the Alolan Meowth. He slowly opened his eyes and squinted in the distance in confusing manner, he pointed at Synthesia, “Huh, what’s that on your back?”

Synthesia’s anxiety spiked as she refused to look behind so she just turned her back on them to see what is on her. A green Caterpie was latched onto the poor Whimsur during the exploration without her even noticing. The Caterpie started at the Alolan Meowth in curiosity, “No, I don’t wanna get back to my mama. She never lets me have fun!”

Before Synthesia could panic, the Igglybuff gently grabbed the Caterpie off from the Whismur’s back to place them on the floor and said, “But your mama never said you cannot have fun! She is worried about you. Isn’t that right?”

Wisteria looked at Marverick and the Lunatone nodding in agreement. According to Miss Butterfree according to the job they were asked to investigate is an accident by a mother that said harsh things to their child which led them to ran away in the first place. She did not mean it and so Wisteria added-on as she pulled out a small toy from her backpack. A small sized Megaton toy that seems to be partially worn out however is glued and properly placed as if it’s new,” She is sorry about hurting your toy and she fixed it for you. Will you come back?”

The Caterpie stared at the toy while taking it off from Wisteria’s hand out. Their expression shows not only sorrow but regret for causing their mother to worry about them. The Caterpie nodded as they are willing to go back home to face their mother. Warping out of the dungeon, their exploration was deemed a success with Caterpie going home to their mother safe and sound. However, due to some circumstances, Marverick could not write a proper report on the dungeon discovery due to being unconscious through eighty percent of it and can only rely on Wisteria to describe so he can recreate a specific map of the dungeon if he ever comes back to it.
