Chapter 1: Mission Report: Luxray Lawyer

Welp, Sunny and I had our first assignment today. Not a dungeon delve or anything grand, which I'm glad about, but helping a lawyer find his badge.

Sunny was practically vibrating the whole way over, I was too busy taking in all the sights and you know, STILL adjusting to being a Turtwig. The ride was fun, don't get me wrong- I've always loved subways and public transport for some reason.

We met with the client, a Luxray. First, let me say that WOW. A Luxray in person is an overwhelming sight to see and I was absolutely rooted in place for a moment, this is the same pokemon I jumped for joy when I evolved for the first time back when I had my first game. Except this isn't a game, so I won't gush anymore and get back to it.

He was stressed as hell about losing his badge which is pretty understandable. I'm a bit confused as to how a badge can be the entirety of verifying your qualification, but things are different here. Sunny did most of the talking at first, going on and on about us being the right team for the job, I had to step in once I saw him getting overwhelmed.

He wasn't sure where he dropped it, so I suggested a grid search of the office and any places that he may have been recently. Sunny was kind of bummed with my...mature approach? I get it, she seems to have really idealized the whole rescue team thing, forgetting just how much work goes into a job. I don't hold her against it, let me be clear.

We fanned out from his office all across the floor and eventually moved down towards the lower areas, still nothing. After a good two hours of searching, we reconvened with him back at his office and let me tell you, I was... amazed by what happened next.

He opened one of his desk's drawers and found the badge sitting in there, it had fallen off when it scraped against the drawer as it closed, he thinks. Sunny was mildly frustrated, but I was kind of glad. Our hard work had still led us to an outcome that got us where we wanted, it just took some more time.

Luxray was PROFUSELY apologetic with us and promised to be more careful from now on, and assured us we would be rewarded in full despite the situation. I was fine with that.

Sunny was a bit more saddened that our first mission didn't have some crazy extravagant climax, but I'm sure those days will come. Hopefully when I'm more acclimated to fighting and using moves, all that good stuff. I will say, her positivity really makes the jobs easier.

Well, that's that for our first mission. If you ask me, It was a success. Job done, badge found, contract fulfilled.

Now, I really need to look into moving into the dormitory provided by the guild. It's a good offer, and I feel bad taking up space at Sunny's. We'll see.

-Pluto, still a Turtwig.
