Chapter 3: Tribute 3: Architect

"I think it's time we built our nests. Or nest if you wanna share." Shiny teased.

"Nests cause you squirm to much!" Banana laughed at him teasingly.

"Rude. Should we get that cool raptor to help us again? He's always around it seems." Shiny said.

"Yeah! He's so great. Even if.... even if he has the weird Causa to watch after." She nodded.

"How in the world can he think of that stuff. I look delicious? Ugh!" He shuddered.

"Well lets go find Hayard anyway. But yeah he was weird for sure." Banana said.

He nodded and spread his wings. He flew up and off with Banana in pursuit of him. He flew around her teasingly a few times getting a tail nip here and there as playful reprimand. He had grown to like his 'annoying' counterpart. She was fun to tease and such. She didn't take the mickey of it either. She was enjoyable.

Banana pecked at her new friend playfully annoyed at his antics. She had to admit though obnoxious and cheesy he was a friend. She landed when she spotted the brown raptor and playfully pushed him over. "Hey friend!" She said.

Hayard yelped then looked at them. "Let me guess you need my help again?" He teased. "What is it this time? I owe you for helping me with Elmer." He said.

"Can you help us make nests? Or at least give us tips? We finally decided it's time." Shiny said.

"Hmm sure. I live in a house with my rider but I'm sure I can help you figure something out." He nodded

"Great! We shall fly you up to the nesting site each time unless you can make the jumps into the tree." He nodded.

"No need I have a contraption for such occasions." He said and walked off to grab a platform and vines. "Lower and raise this." He said.

"Your rider is a godsend for that thing!" Banana said excitedly.

"She is. You'd love her and she'd love you but now let us go and make your nests eh?" He said and followed them back to their tree. He looked it over then calmly handed the vine to Shiny who flew it up to the branch and carefully tied it off. He nodded. "Sound and secured!" He called.

"Good now lets get building." Banana cheered.

The other two nodded and went off to go get sticks and leaves. Hayard went west. He drug back sticks as fast as he could. But being smaller than the tyto and Corva he went slower and couldn't carry as much as they could but he helped. He carried a large support branch to the tree.

Banana flew south and scoured the scapes for perfect sticks. She landed and grabbed a nice large on and tucked it under her wing thumb to hold. She tapped her talons excitedly. This was it! Her own nest! Something she'd make herself... well and with a little help from her raptorik friend. She flew up to her little crook in the branches and laid it. One down many to go. She flew off again.

Shiny Wings went West. He grabbed the biggest branches possible and flew back to build. He painstakingly made his nest having Hayard weave the smaller ones to close any gaps he couldn't get his big beak into. It was nice having the little guy around. He was so helpful. He watched as he carefully hopped over to where Banana was to help her do the same as he had.

Hayard rode his elevator down then grabbed smaller sticks for both of the birds. He even picked soft crinkly leaves to stuff into the crevices that they couldn't put sticks into. He hummed happy. This was fun. He enjoyed the challenge but also preferred his soft blanketed nest made by his rider. Such a silly kitten. He smiled fondly as he rode up the elevator to the nests.

Banana settled into the nearly finished nest to shape it again. It was nearly perfect. A few more twigs and leaves and it would suffice. She'd share with Hayard since he would need some rest after this. She knew Shiny would accidentally kick him out. And that would get them in serious trouble since there were pretty high up.

Shiny Wings proudly laid in his completed nest and curled up just to see how the fit was. Perfect. He rolled and fussed to test the integrity of it then laid on his belly feet tucked under him and eyes closing contently. Perfection. He would have to thank Hayard properly for his help somehow but for now a good rest was in order. After all it took a better part of the day to make these. It was becoming very dark. He looked over at Hayard and Banana Face with a fondness in his eyes. Such good friends. Great friends.

Hayard yawned. It was super late now and he was sore and tired from the running back and forth. He looked at Banana with a slightly albeit sleepy sheepish smile on his beak. "Would it be troubling if I stayed with you for the night? I am very tired and rather worn from all the carrying." He yawned.

"No of course. I can't expect you to make the trek home this late even if you can see in the dark. Please go ahead and rest but with me. Shiny up there wiggles around to much. I'll make sure you don't fall out of the tree." She smiled looking over at the already sleeping Tyto. "He must be worn out like you are to be sleeping already." She said fondly. She nestled down and raised a wing for Hayard. "Go on and snuggle. Its warmer to cuddle than to sleep in the corner and your small enough its easier." She smiled.

Dreams flew through Shiny's head as he rested. A good day indeed.

Hayard wiggled under her wing and yawned. He laid his head against the mass of feathers and immediately closed his eyes and slept. A wonderful end to the day as both he and Banana drifted into peaceful slumber.
