Chapter 1: Orbis Comdentis

First off, it's a massive greatsword. Well, a greatsword for most people, it's not for me. The reason for that is simply because I am over three yards in height, making it a longsword. It's design is fairly simple: a double edged blade, a guard that curves up a bit at each side, and a hilt long enough for me to hold it with one or both hands. Along the center of the blade are words etched with some kind of black metal(Orbis Comdentis) and supposedly that's its name, whether that's true or not, I can't say. Its guard is made of the same black metal that spells its name( I have tried to find out what that metal is but everyone I take it to simply don't know, most think it's an alloy of some kind, a few think it's from another reality altogether) and doesn't have anything that makes it special (aside from what it's made of). The grip is made of the hide of a long dead species so that says something about how old it is. It's pummel is usually a simple sphere but every time I draw Orbis, it ignites with the fire I can control. A few other members of my family have tried wielding it but it doesn't make my flames, it gets coated in whatever they can control(for sky it usually gets a mini storm that doesn't do anything beyond looking cool). Its edge is incredibly sharp, to the point where it doesn't actually have a sheath. I carry it on my back with a piece of treated wood that hooks onto the guard but what that piece of wood is connected to is a simple leather loop that can be adjusted to fit whoever wants to wear it.

I have gotten into several fights where the turning point is when I start using Orbis, but not just randomly swinging it around. Since we're children, sword fighting has been beaten into us (sometimes literally) and hand to hand combat comes right after.

If I'm being completely honest, I find myself leaning more and more on it than my own skill sets that doesn't include it. I don't really know why, I don't normally do something like that. I have considered leaving it behind several times but something keeps making me bring it with me almost everywhere I go. I've tried constantly telling myself to leave it but the next thing I know, it's on my back. I've had a few people I've traveled with to remind me not to bring it but it still ends up on my back somehow. The few times I've actually managed to keep it off of my back is when I'm in the same room.
