  Background story  💀 

Born with a deficiency in color, Ash came to existence. His parents quickly abandoned him, believing their gray looking son to be dead upon birth, he was found by a group of travelers and brought to the nearby city's caretakers. Raised as an orphan with no family to call his own, Ash often felt quite isolated from his peers. His tainting abilities spread fear throughout the kingdom, who believed that it was a bad omen.

His peers knew better as Ash wouldn't harm a fly and, instead, they began to make fun of it, adding more to the rumors that already scared the citizens. It caused more isolation to come to form and grudges to grow within the elf. Being looked down upon and having only limited friends that dare to step closer than the majority in fear of his poisonous, color draining ability. In truth, it is no poison, instead, it is simply an instability in his mana flow with a strong pigment that merges with that of others. It used to be only a temporary condition, which duration increased as Ash aged to an adult.

Through the many discriminations on his path, he decided to journey away from the kingdom, that he was once forced to call his home, to a different place. He dreamt of acceptance and a replacement for his lack of love. This he found, when he set foot in the regions of a new civilization, one that follows only their ancient traditions and isolate themselves entirely. They are not of the same race as he was, and they considered his coming a sign of the divine. They invited him in.

His unique features and abilities only added to this, for his gray pigment has developed to a metallic gray that glisters in the sunlight. It is sacred to them, even if it was only temporarily. As much as to stand in line for each to be touched on their forehead, like a new ritual. One that would last for five hours in a row, as they feast.

He earned a special position within their ranks, close to their elders, the most respected and wisest of people. He gained more and more power, which gradually began to get to his head. He started to manipulate the mass into obeying him more and providing him a selection of special needs, as much as to play with their lives to an extend. It was only a matter of time before he became the most influential of people within their tribe. As much as to have them build him temples and buildings that are similarly built like castles. Only of the most purest of stone in a pale gray color that would be recognizable from distances afar.

Positions were given to the people as Ash crowned himself as the King with their agreement and ceremonies are held to honor this. Entirely blinded by the attention and power, Ash Gray lost track of his initial grudges and plans of revenge toward the other kingdoms, until he happens to see them. His plans of revenge, aside from potential, future attacks, is to convert all the kingdoms their people to his with the ever growing influence of gray on their original pigments.

All those who enter the kingdom lose their pigments and have them replaced by only shades of black, gray and white. This may affect parts of their clothes, their eyes and hair color, unless their resistance is too strong. When that happens, their pigments simply weaken through desaturation. And their emotional state is either partially or not affected in the slightest.

Ash Gray has a rough attitude and is only fixated on keeping his kingdom running by putting each man and woman to a task. His laws are stern, but there are people who enter and stay for personal reasons. The kingdom provides a sense of confidence once they are tainted, a confidence they may never have felt, and a task for them to work on within the safe castle walls. That makes their treatment no less rough. And, oddly enough, few would come and stay for the aesthetics.

No matter what, his plans for revenge and dislike toward the other color kingdoms remains as it is. He tends to hire merchants and mercenaries from enemy territories to cooperate in secret, to spread his word, and their success to promote his kingdom as an excellent place to head to, instead.

Through this, he met a very special mercenary which he fell in love with. He truly believes he has it all, right now, with an ever growing influence and importance. That doesn't make him behave any less like the spoiled child he is, the genes of fae run deeply in his veins as elven kind. This often causes quite some chaotic events within the castle walls.
