Brief biography: 

Basil wasn't really called "basil". They use that name because of the appearance of their hair. This Fae wasn't really born from any forest, tribe, or clan from any existing Fae and/or Fairies. Instead, they were born from the young Drifter's attempts to create life. Stella Sora, their creator, channeled life energy into a Nymphea Lotus that she picked from a nearby pond. Käreitär had taught her how to direct life force into the flower, and thus the two create a living life form out of the lotus.

However, the creature took form of a small Sprite the size of a marble. They look at Stella and Käreitär as two mothers, and in delight, called both of them their "mama". They gained sentience and free will quickly as both taught them the fundamentals of life, while raising the Sprite as their own child. Eventually, the small life form evolved into a Fae, naming themselves "Basil" after observing their own hair.

As a small Plant Sprite and Fae born as both an experiment and a child, Basil helps Stella and Käreitär with their everyday needs, while the two teach them how to find their own identity and purpose. It's surprising that Stella and Käreitär really didn't mind that Basil will try to explore the big world by themselves, for the nature of both Fae and Sprites is that they must explore the natural world they live in, whether by themselves or not.

To Stella, Basil was like a small friend she created from a single organic plant, so she doesn't feel much alone when she is with Käreitär. Originally, Basil was supposed to serve as Stella's familiar, but their childlike innocence made her scrap a rather "torturous" thought.

Description: 

Basil/Nymphea is a green-skinned Fae, sporting green leafy hair resembling basil leaves. They have small pointy Fae ears hidden within their hair. They wear a green leafy collar, and a small top made of slightly desaturated green leaves is worn on their torso. They also have a green bushy by their hips. Basil has a white lotus as part of their anatomy - a reminder of their original state before they were given life force by Stella.

There are also two pairs of rings, each found by the wrists and ankles on their body. These golden rings aren't just for aesthetics, but rather magic regulators to ensure Basil does not die from the overload of life force. Lastly, they possess lime wings behind their back as a Fae.
