After months of training with the mermaid, Adrian felt he could finally work the magic himself. While she was out hunting, he waded into the water, trailing his fingertips along the cool surface of the ocean. The salt air filled his lungs as he closed his eyes and breathed deep.
He concentrated on the idea of the water. Drops of dew in the mornings, mist over fields, the cold wet as you satiate thirst. He isolated the feeling of it under his hands and around his legs, and willed it to become a part of him - an extension of his being. He visualized, in his mind's eye, a tendril of water rising from the ocean and swirling around him, until suddenly he felt it - a droplet fell on his shoulder. He opened his eyes to see the spiral sustained in the air. He reached out with his hand and grasped it - it did not break or fall. FInally, he had it. With practice, he would be able to control the currents - he would make his own storms.
Never again would the fires consume him.
After a long and difficult journey, your character finally succeeds. They can use their new element at will. Show your character using their new element. How do they feel about their new element? What do they use it for? Are they just as skilled in it already as they were with their old element or do they have a long way to go to improve themselves?

I cannot imagine the hardship it was staring at muscles for hours to get them right.
But I'm also blown away by these muscles, the anatomy looks so accurate and especially the arm and hand blow me away!
Anatomy fascinates me. I hope to take a page from your book and get better at compositional flow, as well.
