Rae's Talisman

A leather hand-made anklet. It could be used as a bracelet, but Rae prefers to use it as an anklet.

Rae found this bracelet/anklet as part of the possessions from the old matron that looks after her as a bub. She only found it when she was about to leave for her journey and as such is a good momento to remember the start of her adventure.

Mini Story/History to explain Rae's finding of this talisman: (This is JUST a bit of backstory. It isn't meant to be a story that counts to xp or anything else)

Rae had decided to leave her home. She had had enough of this small, horrid and outdated town. The wolf call that sounded last night had peaked her curiosity and had given her the strength to finally let go of her home of 20 odd years.

A tear rolls down her face as she goes through her belongings for the final time, deciding what she would bring with her and what would be left behind. There wasn't much to go through, and honestly it was mostly food that she had saved. Food she didn't need now. She could hunt as needed on her journey.

Her belongings only included the dress she wore and the cloak around her throat.

She had one last stop before she was to leave. the grave of the only person that she felt had ever loved her. A kind older Hedge witch who had been killed many years before. She had sewn the cloak she wore which kept her warm through the night.

She knew the trail to the unmarked grave by repetitive memory. She would often sit there and just listen to the world pass by.

Today, as she approached the tree above which she was buried, she noticed an odd smell and a flash of colour near the roots. Approaching silently, she finally recognised a bushel of wildflowers, placed snugly in the roots. The flowers were held together with a blue leather-like plaited cord. Under the smell of the flowers, was a scent she never thought she would smell again. that of the woman. Gently unwrapping the cord, she lifted it to her nose to breath in more deeply.

There was no way that the hedge witch had made this. She was long gone, but the scent was undeniably hers. Rae would recognise it anywhere as the woman who raised her.

Taking the cord, she wrapped it round her ankle. It would be a useful item. A reminder of her origins and the woman who had loved her.

Looking at it wrapped around her ankle snugly she hoped this was a good omen for her journey ahead.
