Velius DePrae

Velius DePrae is a character for the RP I've been doing with Dulius Happens, and one of the nephews ... well, I think it can be said that's he's essentially the favorite nephew of her character, Saddler.

Velius DePrae never really got along all that well with his family. Or rather, they got along fine with him; but Velius had never been much trouble, so why wouldn't they? Almost constantly sealed up in the family's library day and night, 'bookworm' is a term which doesn't even begin to cover the literary habits of the second-oldest DePrae son. Perhaps it was this that gave him a much broader worldview than that of his siblings, and left him well aware of just how incredibly priviledged he had been growing up - and still was. This contributed to the mild disgust that he often (but not always) hid from his family in reaction to some of their habits and attitude toward their unsurmountable wealth.

Recently, Velius has begun living and traveling with his uncle Saddler, whom he considers more of a father-figure than he really had ever considered his true father Domevlo to ever be. This fact is rather displeasing to his older brother Brogan (who ... well, until very, very, VERY recently, abhores their uncle), who has since dubbed him to be infected with 'Saddler-itis', due to his becoming more and more like his uncle day by day. Velius is much different on many accounts, however - one of these being his somewhat lacking physique. It's no secret that Velius is a twig of a man, and that his strength is a bit lacking. While this is more than made up for by his intellect, he also is given a bit of an advantage by his power - the ability to harness, control, and weaponize kinetic energy (hard to explain, but if further explanation is neccesary, I'd be happy to provide it).

Another striking difference between his uncle and him is his lack of a drinking problem (Velius almost never drinks alchohol), as well as the fact that he isn't completely opposed to relationships. The only one he's been in so far, or will no doubt ever be in due to the tight reign inflicted on him by his uncle (romantically, at least) in addition to his own apathetic attitude toward romance with any gender, is with his current girlfriend, Morticia (one of Dulius' characters), whom he struggled to win over despite the overwhelming odds against them (a very, very, very long story, indeed). As a result of this, and a need to be able to support Morticia as their relationship develops, has recently taken up a job as an author, and is currently working on his first book.
