Story Summary

If you’re reading this I’m not sure what you’ll get out of my ramblings. Even as my pen dances across these pages I know not the direction it will take. Something compels me, however, to write and to be heard even if the words are whispered through ink.

Chapter 1: Almost Human - Prologue

Note: Before you read this, do not expect anything of this, I'm not writing this for anyone but myself as this is just a small hobby of mine and as I continue to write (if, that is I do proceed with this idea) I will edit this and change it how I please, but do feel free to comment with your likes and dislikes of this short entry or whatever you may feel about it. Thank you.

If you’re reading this I’m not sure what you’ll get out of my ramblings. Even as my pen dances across these pages I know not the direction it will take. Something compels me, however, to write and to be heard even if the words are whispered through ink.

It’s the want; the need to be heard and to have my name and place within this world, I think. Even as I am alone I am comforted by the idea of being found and remembered years after I’m gone through this- my legacy. Even as I am dead, this book will live on and I through it. I only pray these pages will withstand the harsh and malevolent sands of time.

I will start by introducing myself. My name is Daniel Locke. I am neither young nor old. In my hands I hold life’s chalice- a cup filled and overflowing with the very essence man envies and longs for most.

Immortality.

While I have the appearance of a young lad in his early twenties, my age far exceeds the limitations of man. I am a vampire by nature and this entity in which I hold was granted to me by my sire who has long ago forsaken me, leaving me alone in a world that holds no place for a creature like me; a bloodsucking, soul-stealing monster who preys upon the living. Predators, we vampires are. Feeding from these delicate, awkward human beings and yet I find that we are not so grand but are a lower class of this breed. A subspecies despite our place at the top of the food chain. And because of this I see myself not as a human but almost human
