Tastes like cotton candy: Tastes like cotton candy

He was flying into the open air, all was silent and still, except for the clouds, which were ever-moving. He opened his mouth and chomped on one. It tasted like cotton candy!

...Wait what.

Akbar opened his eyes and sighed. It was just a dream. He knew it was too good to be true, 
The Chiro spread his wings and glided up to the tree closest to him, landing on one of the sturdiest branches. Wellen stood on lookout right under him and glanced up at his Stryx.
It was time to hunt.

But what, one would ask?

Honestly, anything that came into view that wasn't a human or fellow Stryx was fair game. 
Akbar flinched as a shadow fell over him and disappeared just as fast. 
The duo had decided that the Haunted Woods would be the perfect place for a hunt today, though it was quite creepy and, as its name suggested, haunted. Many wisps made their way to them and past them, but they both ignored them.

Wellen gasped as a giant spider came into view and Akbar readied himself to pounce.

"You know, I'm not eating that even if you catch it." Wellen grimaced.

Akbar let out a noise of complaint.

"Go ahead and hunt it for yourself if you want though." His handler continued.

With a dash and out of the shadows, Akbar's Kirin charged at the giant creature and gored it with its horn, eliciting a pained shriek from their prey.

Akbar himself swung from his perch and attempted to hold one of its legs. But having six or more legs had its advantage, and it was hard to hold on to it.

"Go for the eyes!" Wellen yelled.

The Kirin understood and jumped up on its legs and onto the face of the spider. One by one, it poked it in the eyes. The roar that resulted even spooked off the Anaruqs that had been nearby.

Akbar noticed something on the ground. Bending down, he picked up what seemed like a rope. Having an idea, he grabbed it tighter in between his teeth and with it, flew around his prey, trapping its legs. He repeated the motion about four more times and with that, the spider was down. It was however, still alive and well. 

Wellen jumped on the Kirin and examined Akbar's handywork, patting him on the head. "You're a smart boy."

Akbar beamed.

"Now, I don't know how to kill that thing except with a flyswatter, but obviously, I don't think they make big enough ones for this one." Xe commented.

The Chiro used his tremendous strength to lift his prey and lay it on its back, and jumped on its chest. His legs came down on it a few times. Wellen and the Kirin did the same. "I feel it too, Akbar. Must be that it can be killed through its...thorax?" The human said. Xe suddenly shuddered. "Can't believe I'm on that thing. Let's get off-" 

The moment xeir feet, followed by the Kirin, found the ground, a web shot out of the prey's butt, trapping them both in-between a tree. Akbar immediately flew to their rescue, cutting down the web. He hissed at the creature, who hissed in return. He went to bite at its head.

Wellen looked at the Kirin. "Okay, Akbar takes care of the head, we take care of the thorax." The Kirin nodded and, this time being mindful of where they stepped, pounced on the spider's chest, the Kirin upside down so its horn could tear at the flesh.

Akbar bit at the face, leaving flesh wounds open and bleeding, tearing it off completely. He helped the other two tear open its thorax and soon, it stopped moving.

Poking it, Akbar glanced at his handler. The human put xeir hands up in the air, not wanting to touch it. 

Akbar took a curious bite and licked his chops, then dived in some more.

Strangely...

It tasted like cotton candy.
