Preface

The story is in a fundamentally sci-fi / modern fantasy hybrid setting, with all the creatures within being the creations of the ultimate being known as The Skymother (or descendants of them). The world was effectively her sandbox, until her child, Ramiel, was engulfed in a rage so violent that they blew half the place up, stole the light, and Skymother had to sacrifice/supernova herself to seal them away to save what remained.

Because it was her experimental sandbox as an ultimate god, she made lots of different creatures - though had a very soft spot for the subgroup she came to call 'humanforms'.

Nonspecific terms that may come up

Humanform: Humanoid species. Used to refer to humans or species that are just humans with bunny ears, or something.

Beastform: Creatures resembling creatures that are partially or heavily based off those from reality, i.e. dogs, rabbits, cows, monkies, etcetc - and do not have any 'humanoid' features, though they may or may not be sapient depending on species.

Xenoform: The weird dudes / 'everyone else'. Varying levels of experimental in appearence and biological function.

For all intensive purposes, humanforms will be the most common.

(Lunar) Rabbitfolk / moonrabbits

Not actually from the moon - but imbued with a light amount of divine energy from The Skymother, who lived in a moon palace in the sky. A hardy, widespread and incredibly social species. Common attributes: Rabbit ears & tail, some form of halo

A species of water-based canid-esque shifters - meaning they are capable of shifting between a humanform and beastform appearence. They may appear to be made partially or fully out of water, can breathe underwater, and are excellent swimmers and divers. Common attributes: Canine features, body parts made of water

Neo rabbitfolk

These rabbits ARE from the moon! Skymother's final creation, meant to be unleashed from the giant biosphere-atrium of the moon palace into the world... until Skymother was gone and couldn't do that. With no contact of the life on the 'surface', they built their own lunar capital in the atrium. Common attributes: Star/fragmented halos, rabbit ears & tail, wings.
