I should've commented on this picture aong ago. it's really beautiful. I especially love the rhino. He looks really friendly unlike the unicorn, although maybe not in real life. I do like horses though. And I absolutely love their surroundings. I'd love to see more animal drawings from you, it's really wonderful and certainly a fav!
This piece took a lot of researching for me - I'm not so hot at animal anatomy at all... Nor, at the time, was I so hot at doing backgrounds. I'm getting better with that part, though.
I still don't do animals much, though, because they take me twice as long, at least, to find enough resources to get them correctly proportioned and all that... And even when I DO use tons of references, I'm never sure if I've got it quite right. Does that make sense?
I know when I get people right and wrong. I can see my errors plain as day - but with animals? I'm in the dark.

No prob. I know what you mean, I don't do animals much myself for the same reasons as you. I did use to draw horses but I haven't been very good as much as I tried. And now I don't draw animals at all because I don't really feel like it and I know it'll suck. I can only say we do what we're best in...
