prompt #98-Fairytale (I got carried away, do enjoy the story lol.)

Antal had been known to be music genius since he had been young. Being able to get his hands on every instrument he could, Antal was able to learn how to play a diverse amount of instruments well into adulthood. While he was talented, there was still a lot of work he had to do to learn these instruments. His peers grew jealous over the years and started to hate him, despite seeing him having to work hard to keep his skills sharp. One fateful day, auditions opened up for a rather well known and respected band. A member was quitting and so there was a space opening up for someone to fill it. Everyone was buzzing with excitement about it. Antal knew he had to participate in it. It was his chance to show his skills he worked so hard for. Unbeknownst to him, his peers weren't going to let him go. They had schemed up a way to keep him from going.

While he was packing up his things in his room, someone kidnapped him. Antal had been taken to a hidden place and his stuff torn to bits, making his carefully picked outfit unwearable and the instrument he planned to use broken into pieces. There was nothing of his that was in any useable condition after they were done.

After his stuff was throughly destroyed they finally left him alone. Distraught, there was nothing he could do except try and get his bearing. It was too much to bear, though, and he collapsed crying onto a stone bench nearby. Instead of stone, he felt porceline and stiff fabric. She introduced herself as the sugar plum fairy dollmother, or SPFD, for short. After calming him down, his SPFD informed him she was here to help him. "How?", He was very confused. The SPFD smiled and instructed him to gather things from around them. After he had done that, she pulled out a wand. "Where did you pull that out from?" Antal asked confused, to which she responded with, "Don't worry about it." He knew better to ask more questions.

With a wave of the wand, his broken instrument became a brand new violin, the wood planks stretched and became a beautiful glass carriage. The pumpkin's became horses, the weeds he pulled became coachmen, and the SPFD looked satisfied at her handiwork, or rather, wand work. She turned to face Antal smiling, "Now, to get you ready." The wand was waved again, and his torn clothes glowed white. In a second of blinding light and sparkles, he felt his clothes change. When he could see again, his shirt which was torn from trying to get away from his former captures, was replaced by fine clothing. After he able take it all in, he kneeled in front of the SPFD, since she was a bit shorter than him, and kissed her hand in gratitude. It might have been his imagination, but he could have sworn that a blush graced her porceline face.

After he stood up, his slightly flustered SPFD pushed him towards the glass carriage, "Go on now. Just so you know, the magic ends at midnight. Have fun bye." Antal tried asking a few questions, but she was quite insistent on him getting into the carriage. There was no use getting trying anything else out of her, so he got in. After the door was shut, it started to move in the direction the SPFD pointed. They made eye contact and she curtsied, disappearing into sparkles. He was finally on his way to the audition, and had extra motivation to play the best he could. It was late midday when he arrived at auditions. His peers, now rivals, were stunned to see him show up.

There was luckily one more audition spot for him. He played from the heart, and was able to get a good solid round of applause. There was unfortunately, someone else chosen for the position, but he got several written recommendations to good schools and music programs. As disappointing as that was for him, there was justice in the end. The folks who paid for him to be abducted were caught in the act again trying to pay someone to do the same thing to another person again a year later. He was eventually paid, after a year of asking, for the cost of his instrument that was destroyed in the abduction, since they kept dragging their heels in the mud. It was a very expensive purchase for him. Every year, at the end of summer, which is when he met his Sugar Plum Fairy Dollmother, he leaves roses on the nearest stone bench in the hopes she finds it.
