Festival Buns

Istra's favorite food is the steamed festival buns from her father's city, Lis. Stuffed with white fish, root veg, sage, and preserved lemon peel, they were mainly served at the winter festival dedicated to the city's patron sea-god Ulamon. Festival time is one of her few clear, uninhibitedly happy memories from before the monster-lord came. Her mother still makes the buns yearly as they travel, although the availability of ingredients varies.
