A Forgotten Classic

A Disney pic for a change, how shocking XDD Princess Eilonwy with the lovable Gurgi (I suck at drawing him, this is why I don't draw animals ^^; )

Not many people know this movie, it's the Black Cauldron, and it was supposedly based on the novel series The Chronicles of Prydain. The film was heavily criticized for its dark and disturbing themes as well as it being a far cry from the novel series on which it was based, as a result Disney shelved the film for well over a decade til its video release in 1998 and then its DVD release in 2000. Apparently there's news that there'll be a Special Edition DVD re-release sometime this year.

While I truly understand the parents' concerns about TBC back in its day, I thought it was a wonderful film, it being very different from what Disney usually does with their creations. So if you like dark fantasy tales, then try watching this.

I couldn't find a gallery for disney art so I didn't know where to put it ^^;

I'm not much of a cartoon Disney freak, but this does sound interesting. Great work on the drawing by the way. The lines are neat and clean, while mine remain jagged and torn.... ^-^

I remember Black cauldron, but I've forgotten alot of it since it was so long ago. They made a computer game of it first I believe... not sure if it was a fairy tale before that though. I should rent it and rewatch it ^^
