< < Major overkill from arkillian there, but she did have a good point. It's the artist behind the work and not the art supplies. But on another note, Roseart kicks your butt, everytime. Crayola is better, and if you can ever find Prang colored pencils, they're the really smooth and super cheap.
I like the colors in your picture, with the pink-glow for most of it then tinges of yellow. It has a warm feeling to it. But were you skipping corners on the dude's hair?
One last thing that almost escaped my notice is that boarded up stained-glass window. That is a really great detail, and it added so much to the picture. ~_^ Keep up the good work!

x3 I've seen Prang at school, and I've seen crayola, but I can't find a large enough set lol

x3; I wasn't skipping corners--I don't think >.> maybe I missed something and forgot to add a bit of colour there x3; that would be an easy thing for me to do. I'm such a flake lol!

:3 Yeah~ The stained glass just seemed so appealing to me :3 it kind of hints at where they could be--the attic of an old church or something I suppose. ^_^

      <3 Thank you

Critique here on your colouring technique. Seriously- blame the tools as much as you want, for most of it, 10c pencils are as good as $10 ones. Big differnce? quality of finish. Ease of use. Toxins levels. Colour quality. At the end of the day thouhg, if you can use them, there's no point basking in thier glory. That's how I see it. The only expensive stuff I buy is:- White out $20, Indian ink (Donno the price but the cheep stuff is thin), ink pens (so they don't bleed and to get 0.05mm nibs), and my Wacom tablet (anything besides Wacom isn't worth the bother)

Other than that- cheep nasty stuff Smile My paper is middle ofthe range, but only cause it's cost worthy. Lead is lead.

OK- The crit part. Pencils of any kind are all about texture. The direction of the pencil scrapings is essential for flow and if you jagger it for nno reason, it'll look messy. The bed for instance- I assume it's satiny with a golden glow? I learnt about getting fine sand paper (400 grit plus) and scraping the lead into a fine powder for a soft finish at school. This EATS your pencil, but would be a softer effect. Using the eraser to take out the desity of lead helps too- watch that you don't SMUDGE.

LAstly- you have alot of candles lighting up an already lit room? The room doesn't look candle lit cause the light hasn't got an equal levelled shadow of balance it. I think the wall is un interesting and a beter placement would be a few in front of them to light the lovers up. Attached a crit where if the light was there, sort of how it'd frame it'self (warning- took me 5 minutes to do. It's crap and NOT accrurate) It has alot more mood though right? IT draws the eyes to infront of the lovers, not behind them

Just some thoughts Smile Hope they help ^^

:3 Sorry it's taken me so long to reply~ Haven't been around too much x3

yeah x3 I know I'm not the best with coloured pencil. :3 I wasn't trying to blame them on my mistakes x3; I know I really need to work on my value and stuff--it's hard x3 But I find that colouring value with colour is easier than my grayscale a lot of the time.

I usually don't use anything fancy at all. My mom just got me card stock, but other than that I usually use cheap printer paper from her work x3; I dunno--I haven't used wacom yet :3 I'd love to have one, but I don't see it happening anytime soon x3 so I will probably end up getting some off brand 70 dollar one x3; which I can afford x3;; or pay my mom back if she gets it for me hehe I have fairly decent pens however :3 I usually get pricier ones for that, because I hate it when they bleed too much.

I've never thought of the sand paper :3 I'll have to try it some time~ with something I'm just messing around with x3

*cough* If I'd really worked on it more x3; I might have fixed the lighting problem a bit :3 I agree there are probably far too many candles, but it probably would have looked a hell of a lot better overall if I'd deepened my shadowing and found a darker colour for a lot of it. I do like the idea of your visual however~ I may redo this at some point to give it the good old retry x3

      ~<3 Thank you :3

For colouring technique, it may be a good idea getting books out on pencil colouring- grey scale or otherwise. It'll give tips on shading and colour mixing and stuff Yes Tablets aren't essential despite what many say- it's just easier. it doesn't make you a beter artist- it is a more efficent way of drawing the lines you would with a pencil.

Um yeah... I'm too tired to continue ranting with justification ^^; LOL!

I'll just go talk with my grandmother about getting help :3 It's always so much better to have someone showing you and watching as you work something out. Then they can catch your mistakes before you do them too many times!

I know they aren't essential. I get around without one very well for using a mouse. :3 I just wish I had one so it was a little easier to work digitally. The mouse really triggers my carpal tunnel when I use it for hours working on something x3 not that a pen or pencil don't, the movements are just different. My wrist and arm get really stiff when using the mouse for too long.

You don't need to preach to me- I'm totally converted on the no mouse poll. It's too dodgy. I use to get mouse stick too. That sucked...
