As I was driving home this evening, I was thinking about bogusred.net (as usual) and I suddenly realized that there was a bad bug in the site. :ohno: As soon as I got home, I did some tests and they confirmed my suspicions. :sick: The site was turned off for about an hour and a half while I made some critical changes and then put back up in Read Only Mode for a few hours. I can't reveal the details of the bug for security reasons, but you can sleep well tonight knowing that this bug has been completely eradicated! :grin:

I'm glad that I was able to discover the problem before someone exploited it and I'm pretty darn proud of myself for having fixed it in only 4 hours. :angel:

This was a site wide change that could have odd effects on the site. If you see anything odd, please send me a message with a link to the misbehaving page and I'll have it fixed a.s.a.p. :P

On another note, I haven't been completely satisfied with my new hosting service so far. I've noticed that the server just isn't as reliable. Often times I get "connection timed out" messages randomly, and sometimes the database suddenly can't be accessed for 10 minutes at a time. I've also noticed that the site overall seems a little... sluggish. It's not my home connection either. I did some tests via the command prompt and there is some noticeable lag there and connection instability.

I have contacted my host about the issue and basically their response is "Well, if you want more reliable service, upgrade to our Virtual Private Server plan." Which is TWICE as expensive as the plan I've got now. So, if you guys would like more reliable service from bogusred.net, go ahead and click that little Pay Pal button at the bottom of the screen and show your support! Please be sure to tell me your username so that I can put your name up on a donor's page or something. I'm sure i can think of something special for you guys.

The total amount of money that we need to upgrade would be roughly $200. That amount would last a whole year of service. Based on the money I've been accumulating from Google Adsense, I'm confidant that I will have enough money in the account to make future payments. If I don't hit $200 from donations, it would take about half of a year for me to accumulate the $200 needed to pay for the upgrade. That means it will be half a year before we can get our fancy VPS. So if we want bogusred.net to be more reliable NOW, then please click that pretty blue and white PayPal button at the bottom! :grin:
