Pretty nice tones/shades. The only things that could use improvement seem to be the curve of the shield (?) and maybe some of the contrast on whatever he's seated upon.
Guessing this was charcoal, which is a tricky medium to work with.
The face itself is striking and the minor details are nice looking, quirks like the shield's symbols and arrays make for a nice flavor in the piece.

Aww thanks so much! Hahah the shield was only put there because I couldn't draw him in the pose I wanted 
if in doubt, throw something big and obstructive in that's what I always say!
