Hi eegirlee! Welcome to PaperDemon.com!

So you are looking for a little help? I'm guessing you have one of those How to Draw Manga or How to Draw Anime books right? The system you're using to block in the figure is similar to that How to Draw series. Be careful with those books. The idea behind it is to block in the pose lightly with very little pen pressure by sketching. It looks like you're pressing really hard with your pencil. I'd suggest using less pressure and practice getting a feel for 3D form by drawing lots of cyllinders, boxes, and spheres. I know it sounds kind of dumb but that's how artists get good. Keep on practicing.

[Art] an unfinished terror

I guess I just feel pressured with my art-I got into drawing with anime, and it is tons of fun to draw. But I also want to explore other media and styles to make something special to me.
The pressure is probably from my habit of using mechanical pencils (please don't stone me!). It also makes it hard for me to ink things.
I love to study tutorials, but I also know I need to sketch for practice before I jump into a drawing. I seem to be improving at a rather sluggish rate. Any suggestions?

I know what you mean. I used to press down hard all the time when I drew but school got me to lighten up a lot. It takes practice. I think what may help is to actually watch a person who's really skilled draw. That's hard to do over the internet. Perhaps I can make a video and post it.
