I don't understand where Poser comes in here. You said you were using it, are you preparin the pose for your characters in Poser and then take them into Photoshop? And don't you do a skecth of how they are supposed to be composed eventually? Just can't help being curious.
That's precisely what I do.... I use Poser like an artists woodnen doll/dummy I set my pose (Which is technically what that program was designed to do in the first place ^_^) at the same time I set my light source maps, the camera angle and focal mm adjustment for forshortening distortion. (Things that old dummy can't do)
Then I just leave it open in a window and I ALT-TAB between my Poser Program and whatever other program I'm using to draw in. OpenCanvas or Adobe PS.
THis one I sketched and Inked in Open Canvas then I colored in Adobe.
I use what I have in the Poser Window as a visual reference throught the entire process.
That help?
I explain more in the forum that "How do you draw thread" if you want more details.
I think this is my favourite one of your works. Even if I'm not a fan of your style, forgive me. It fascinates me however how you put your characters together and the relationships between them. And the characteristics you give each. I love your use of brushes, I never know where to put in my own work, that's why I barely ever use them. I loved the pose of the guy on the left and the color contrasts of this pic.
Thanks. Normally if I'm not going to have the characters touching/interacting with each other, I create them separately then composite them in the the WHOLE later.
There are 4 distinct layers in this Van Ilya The Backgound The Text
How lovely! It is wonderful. I can't wait to read the story. So what am I waiting for, I know. I really love the bright green eyes of the one. They really grab your attention. This has a sort of Robinson Cruesoe look to it. *looks again* Mature content? Oh that is so not RC. Keep bringing these to us please? They are wonderful.^_^
The STORY is Red Curtain. While I don't write PWP's there are intimate scenes and the PLOT itself is mature reading material subject wise so I'd rather over rate it than under rate it. ^_^
I'd like to think the setting is Robinson Crusoe meets Waterworld meets Pirates of the Carribean meets Priscilla Queen of the Desert PPP
You never cease to amaze, Fablespinner!! I think, even though it's like choosing between two fine chocolates, that I even like this one better than the other! I think the background is very captivating and sets off the characters perfectly. I particularly like the fellow (I'm assuming it's a fellow ^^) with the black hair in red. Awesome job, as always!
Your assumption would be correct. Van is the Captain of "The Crimson Lady" and Ilya is the Ship's Healer. ^_^ (The little flowers he's holding is basically birth control when powdered and mixed into tea... PP when/if you read the story you'll laugh at the joke it represents.) ^_^
Wow you read fast. Yup chapter "Aspect and Accidents"
Poor Ilya. Van is sooooo in the dog house! And Neither of them are getting any sympathy from Sonja! (She's my favortie character in the whole darn series. Old women get away with MURDER *cackle*)
So far, she's my fave character, too! You're really great at distinguishing characters and still making them human/believable. It's an AWESOME stroy!!!! *jumps up and down with excitement*
She likes to have her "say" in matters. My crazy old bat! I just posted the entire series for you since you seem to be reading them so FAST O_o Granted they're short. Book One is the longest Book four is only VERY short. But don't read them out of order, it'll be confusing otherwise, they all tie in together.
Hope you like it, Sonja is at her peak in Book III
Oh my god..I think I'm gettin' drunk looking at your art lol. I love the background you put in your art, it's really captivating, how do you get it to look like that? I also like the character to the left's choice of clothing. Hm, though, I wish the lower half of the characters clothing was a little bit brighter, *shrugs* I know it does depend on taste, but I think the lower half we look cooler if it was just brightened up a bit, but meh, what am I sayin' you are way more experienced than I (Look at me givin' a critique on a person's COVER art >_< who has way more years experience lol). But hey, it's your cover art and your the artist! Super job! I expectin' more, so keep gettin' me drunk lol.

The Background is made from brushes I made for AdobePhotoShop 7.0 or higher. (Composited with the MAP I made of the world.
These specific border coloums were from the Art Nouveux set of 42 brushes. If you use AdobePhotoshop 7.0 or higher you can download my custom brush set here:
folder in your adobe program and use away. I have several custom brush sets I've made that are available for download.
My depository is here: http://www.sakuranbostudios.com/brush/fablespinner_brushes/
Only the files that start "fable" are brushes I've acutally made myself.
Denim, Comic Screentones, Medievil, anime, victorian flowers etc... (the file 'fablebrushes' are about 50 *give or take* japanese tatami/shoji patterns, I use these A LOT, very versitile brushes for backgrounds, to clothing patterns. I used them in the above picture on the sashes, Subtle patterns, easy applications.)
The rest are brush sets I've collected over the years from Adobe Exchange
To give you an IDEA: BRUSHES I made out of Deleter Screentones...
I made these brushes out of a Japanese Home StyleBook, Patterns for Transom and tatami panels. 40 plus PATTERN BRUSHES http://fablespinner.com/adobe/fablebrushsamples.jpg
*NOTE* All my brushes are for ADOBE PHOTOSHOP 7.0 or higher, they don't work on earlier versions. These are LARGE FILES because I designed them to be used while working at PRINT QUALITY of 300 dpi or higher. So even on Cable, you're gonna be downloading a while, especially the last set of brushes, that's forty plus designs in that set.
Here *ALL* of my brushes: Just the file names that start with 'fable' are the ones I actually made myself, the rest are just brushes I've picked up over the years from ADOBE EXCHANGE
Wow, that's alot of things to do for such a seemingly simple item. Thankyou for posting how you went about doing this. I just wish I had a good enough working computer to be able to "take my art to the next level" Unfortunately, I am unable to use most of what you supplied, though I shall note the programs you used, and hopefully when I get them, come back to this post and use them, Thanks for taking the time to put all this, quite alot of time for you to gather together this.
This is very cool! The coloring is great, I especially like the deep red color of the shirt of the character on the left, it goes well with the pale skin. I also like the way you made the strands of the hair flow all over. Great job!
Your submission is posted to our site but it hasn't yet been added to an Art RPG queue for point counting, approval, and/or reward redemption. Submit it to the queue to get your rewards.
