I think it's obvious that Sora looked up to Riku a lot as they were growing up. Falling in love with someone before you even understand what it means can be very confusing, especially where perceived rivalry is involved...

RikuSora I love it so much. Here they are probably around 11/12 years old. I put them in outfits similar to those they appear in as children in the KH mangas. ^_____^

Riku hasn't put on his muscle yet. hahaha.
