Chapter 1: Tool of the Trade

This double-action revolver usually is well hidden on his belt underneath his coat, but the gun makes a statement when it draws leather. The grip is walnut, with a wide grain and a glossy finish, a carving of a wolf's head inlaid. The frame, barrel, trigger guard, trigger, hammer, top strap and sights are sterling silver. The cylinder of the revolver is black steel. Engravings resembling magical runes run along the gun's metal parts, swirling and perfect, a soft blue glowing from the markings at times. The kind of work that would take years to perfect. The cylinder release is a tiny, faded symbol of a horned skull, Kirazi's gang symbol. The gun itself has some old chips in the metal, and scratches as well, suggesting it wasn't always handled with care. But its polished grip and shining frame show that the current owner takes excellent care of it. Holding it in your hands, you could feel the magical energy humming off it and could tell that if this gun could speak, it would tell stories from time immemorial. As for where the badges could go, they could be melded to the barrel, cylinder, and grip. Kirazi has an idea to engrave the badges onto the gun magically.

Kirazi got this revolver as a gift from his gang leader, Bandit. He had claimed it a while before Kirazi had joined. He said it was from a rival gang leader who worked in the ways of magic. It was meant to be the first of many giftsβ€”a symbol of their friendship and possibly more. Bandit had always been a charming man. He saw how Bandit looked at him and felt the romantically charged and risque statements the outlaw would make in his direction. Kirazi was never against the idea of something growing between them. After all, he had picked him up at his lowest point. He was handsome too. Bandit was a free spirit who challenged Kirazi to be stronger and better and not to care what the world thought of him, only that he lived a life worth living. The magical enchantments on the revolver made it easier for Kirazi to learn spells and incantations. The pistol became his most treasured possession.

During his time with Bandit, Kirazi did many horrible things. And almost all of the worst of them came out of the barrel of his gun. With that in mind, the gun represents a few things to him. Firstly, it's a reminder of his checkered and violent pastβ€”a sort of burden to carry. And secondly, it's a tool. A tool that has the power to commit great acts of evil but also acts of good. Kirazi sees himself that way and feels an odd connection to the object. The good he commits with it could fight to balance the evil it had done before. And as the revolver 'redeems' itself, so too could he. To him, it's another piece of himself that must be fixed or improved. He can only hope to accomplish that.

Kirazi chose to bring the revolver with him to remind himself of his evil acts and the good he could do. He also brings it with him as it gives him more powerful enchantments, and he is also a lover of firearms. With this revolver, he can change the world positively, even if he's done all he could to hurt the people in it for a long time. And, as much as it's hard for him to say, he still has lingering feelings for Bandit, and he's not sure if he's quite ready to part with the gun, even if he did run away from him.
