Chapter 3: Shadow Claw

Character name:  Shadow Claw

Character age: Don't know, 17?

Character species: Dog-Wolf hybrid

Hair color: Black

Eye color: Amber

I remember my home. It was a log cabin out in the middle of nowhere. My parents liked the tranquility of the woods. They were always taking walks in the woods. It did not matter what time of year, they were out there walking in the morning, then at night.Well, until that night came. The mob came so suddenly, Pa didn't have time to put the bucket down. Ma grabbed me and put me down into the cellar, telling me to be quiet and assuring me that everything was going to be okay. That we were all going to make it out of this together. I'm afraid that our black cat jinxed it a bit. I don't remember what happened to Ma and Pa; however, I do remember the people dressed in gray finding me. They had hoods covering their snouts or beaks or whatever, and they all had a pin on their torsos, a golden bird. They called themselves the Yellow Cardinals, the Bringers of Peace. I never saw my parents again. I was later tied to a pole to be made fun of. They didn't give me food or drink. Nobody did. I was an out cast. A castaway. I was about to fall asleep on the fourth day, when a figure came out of the shadows towards me. This had me awake in no time, with me growling at the being. The person stopped, not yet in the light, then took another step forward. That's when I saw what they looked like. They were dressed in a clad black outfit. Well, clad except for the pin at the throat and the white wristband they had on. And, if I wasn't mistaken, they had their snout covered, but where the eyes were supposed to be were dark red patches of cloth that were barely noticable unless the light shown a certain way, which it did. "Who are you?" No answer. "Do you know what I am saying?" No answer. Right then a door opened and the disguised figure retreated back into the shadows. Crack. A whip was struck against me. "NO TALKING!"  was yelled at me by one of the Cardinals. I collapsed onto the snowy ground as best I could as the whip snapped against my back time and time again. Each time gave way to me arching my back and yelping from the pain. "NO NOISE!" As I tried to keep silent, I noticed the figure again. Their hands were balled up into fists. As the darkness closed around me, I was able to witness something extrodinary. The hidden figure jumped out of the shadows and jumped over me. I could hear a grunt of suprise come from the Cardinal, followed by a quick thud of a punch landing. I felt myself being lifted up, the chains broken. That was when the darkness overtook me.

Black Wolf-dog hybrid at around 17 years old, Shadow Claw has one of the sadest stories I have ever made. He has amber eyes, prefers the dark, and wears a black cloak around him wherever he goes. He likes to go on missions, was always interested by magic, and has a soft spot for the woods and everything living in them.
