Greetings PaperDemons, welcome to our midsummer quest! Quest challenges allow your character a chance to find their place in PaperDemon lore and history. What’s your story?

High in the mountains on the planet Evor, a massive palace among the clouds is opened once per year for an exclusive ball. The Summer’s Eve Ball invites are only given to the most elite of the elites, the most fabulously wealthy and famous of the Paperverse.

That’s not what it’s known for, however.

Every year without fail, something happens at the ball. One year all of the food was magicked to taste like lemons. Another, the ballroom floor was stolen. The entire mosaic floor. Still another year, every person in attendance was turned invisible for the full three day event.

The Summer’s Eve Ball’s security grows and plans better every year, but still some enterprising individuals manage to slip their way past and bring disarray to the dance.

Are you one of the guests? Perhaps a guard, bent on stopping this year’s chaos. Or maybe, you’re one of the mischief makers hiding amongst the crowd…

Challenge Requirements

For this Art RPG Quest Challenge, you will be taking your very own original character on a special quest. You will be using the character you registered in our Character Creation Challenge. If you haven’t registered a character yet, follow that link to do so!

Pick one of the prompts below and draw or write your registered character in this new world!

• If you are submitting art, it should be a full color piece that shows at least half of your character’s body and a background. Shading is optional.

• If you are submitting writing, your registered character should be the focus of the piece. The piece should be at least 1000 words and it must match the content of the prompt you have chosen.

• Submit your entry to PaperDemon.com and copy paste the prompt you selected into the submission description. To earn your rewards, submit it to the queue at the bottom of this page.

• To receive AP and items for completing this challenge, submit your work by clicking the [Add to ARPG Queue] button on the art or writing piece’s page. Choose PaperDemon ARPG > Special Events. and 7 points into the points box. An admin from our team will process your request and grant your character 7 AP and deposit your items into your bank. You’ll receive a private message when the process is complete.

Prompts

Prompt #1 - The Guests

Your character has received a gilded invitation to the event! You are welcome and esteemed– guards and staff alike part before you and the other guests are dying to meet you. Will you use this opportunity to negotiate with your allies and enemies among the elite? Will you savor every single treat the palace has to offer? Or will you simply dance the night away? Draw or write your character as an esteemed guest at the ball. Your piece must include your character at a location inside the palace or an encounter with a guard or gatecrasher. Reach out to your fellow players if you would like to collaborate!

Prompt #2 - The Guards

The guard only staffs a skeleton crew outside of major events. Many of the guards are well-vetted and seasoned adventurers, or hired from prestigious bodyguard companies across the Paperverse. Will you do your duty and keep careful watch? Will you sneak away and snitch a snack or a spa day between shifts? Are you attentive– or lucky– enough to catch one of the uninvited hooligans this year? Draw or write your character as a guard at the ball. Your piece must include your character and either a location inside the palace or an encounter with a guest or gatecrasher. Reach out to your fellow players if you would like to collaborate!

Prompt #3 - The Gatecrashers

Maybe you were just curious. Maybe you had trouble on your mind. Maybe your best friend got an invitation and you didn’t so you’re going to show up anyway. But you’re here, at the ball, without a ticket. Are you going to swan around like you own the place and hope your confidence keeps your cover? Will you sneak around just out of sight until you’ve achieved whatever your goal is? Will you attempt to set up sprinklers atop the massive ballroom chandelier? Will you get caught? Draw or write your character crashing the party. Your piece must include your character committing shenanigans or meeting a guard or a guest in the palace. Teach out to your fellow players if you would like to collaborate!
