Select five (5) prompts below, one from each Tier, to complete Basic Training with your Stryx.

Tier 1 - Trust

1.

This is the beginner's stage of training, and one of the most important. Show your hatchling or adolescent Stryx interacting with their rider or another Stryx, learning basic movements, or how your rider/Stryx guide otherwise gains your dragon's trust.

(A rider or companion Stryx is REQUIRED.)

2.

This is the first step to making friends in the world and showing them you’re ready to take on challenges. Show your Stryx earning the trust of their rider or another Stryx. Friendly interactions, exchanging gifts or sharing a meal might be ways for a Stryx to earn someone’s trust.

(A rider or companion Stryx is REQUIRED.)

3.

The world is full of hard knocks, and trust is a dangerous thing. Show your Stryx when they learn that they're the only one looking out for themself. Are they betrayed by a close friend? Abandoned by a parent? Or are they simply an independent soul who thinks they know best for themself?

(A rider or companion Stryx is REQUIRED.)

Tier 2 - Confidence
1.
You must learn to walk before you can run, and a Stryx must learn how to run before they can fly. Young dragons are often rather clumsy, and must learn how to center themselves. As well, learning to walk and run steadily will prepare them for hunting on land, and chasing down prey. Show your Stryx jogging or running.
2.
To instill confidence in others, you must find it in yourself. What can your Stryx do to find it, and how do they show that they’ve found it? Show your Stryx finding or displaying their confidence by practicing a new skill, using a breath ability, or investigating a potential danger.
3.
When you’re the only one who has your back, you must be confident in your own skill and abilities. Your Stryx must believe that they’re capable of surviving and thriving. Show your Stryx claiming territory of their own, navigating difficult terrain, or making a threat display.
Tier 3 - Control
1.
It’s time to stretch your wings! Your Stryx is learning how to use the air currents and their own limbs to aid in swift turns and long flights. Show your Stryx gliding down from a rocky outcropping, leaping into the air/jumping across a stream, or over some form of obstacle.
2.
Your Stryx must learn when to turn away their claws and use their mind. Show your Stryx monitoring a flock of youngsters or livestock, carefully digging a creature out of a rockslide, or plucking someone from a raging river, or otherwise expressing finely tuned control and awareness of their own abilities.
3.
The power of a dragon means nothing without the skill to know how to apply it. Show your Stryx practicing their stealth, cultivating a flock of prey creatures for later hunting, or outwitting a foe through trickery.
Tier 4 - Fortitude
1.
It takes strength of body and heart to carry a rider and perform the tasks and feats expected of a fully fledged Stryx. Show your Stryx carrying a rider or a heavy object, pulling a sled or a wagon, or dragging something heavy across the ground in their jaws.
2.
As your Stryx grows, they must learn their own physical boundaries and push them to the limit. Show your Stryx building a nest or other structure, exercising their flexibility and power on land or earth or air, or using their strength to assist another.
3.
Your Stryx must prove their dominance in the face of opponents and challenges if they want to survive. Show your Stryx overtaking another in a race, taking treasures or resources from another, or accomplishing an enormous display of strength.
Tier 5 - Bravery
1.
After mastering itself, your Stryx is now ready to master the world around it. The lands and skies are wide open with possibilities– what are you waiting for? Show your Stryx chasing or catching prey, traveling through a natural disaster, or making a daring maneuver through dangerous obstacles.
2.
There will always be challenges in life, and your Stryx is ready to step up and face the world with boldness. Show your Stryx defending another, teaching another to fight, or facing something they were once afraid of.
3.
Your Stryx has struggled and fought to gain a foothold in life. They’ve come out the other side of the fires of life lessons with a steel forged heart. Show your Stryx defending themself against a foe, taking vengeance against those who have wronged them, or ascending to whatever throne– figurative or literal– that they’ve built for themself.
