A Mysterious Drink

What a refreshing drink! Just the thing you and your stryx needed after a harshly fought trial at the summer game. It didn’t go as well as you hoped, but with a bit of luck, and now that you and your stryx are properly rested, you’ll be able to truly impress the judges this time.

You thank the mysterious merchant for the delicacy they agreed to give you free of charge, seeing just how exhausted you were after your performance. Their silhouette, clad in shadow, put you off at first, but they were a nice fellow in the end. The merchant bowed elegantly, smiling ear to ear. Without a word, they return to the dark alley they came from, disappearing in the shadows. Off putting, but you have some summer games to get back to.

However, something strange happens as you walk back towards the arena. It’s subtle at first, but by the point a windhound would have stood taller than them, you quickly come to the realisation your stryx is shrinking! The effect doesn’t stop until they are no bigger than a rat. That merchant! They sabotaged you! You recollect yourself. Maybe skipping the summer games would be best for today. Thankfully, you know a place where you’ll be able to reverse the curse. However, your now little feathered friend might need to pass the day in their current size. Let’s hope nothing bad happens while you go seek the cure.

Your stryx has been shrunk to the size of a rat! Depict your strx’s reaction. How do they adapt to their new size? Do they get in trouble trying to challenge bigger creatures? Maybe try to find the merchant? Do they try to hide in a small corner of the room? Do they use their small stature to sneak to places they are not supposed to? Or do they simply use their new size to find themselves a comfortable spot and wait out the cure?

Requirements:

The Pool of Mystery

During your adventuring in the wild, it seems your stryx got into a part of your surroundings you never explored before. You could have sworn this passage wasn't there yesterday. Yet, here it is. Perhaps it was just well hidden? Regardless, curiosity takes the best of you and you advance forward.

After a few feet in, you fall on a strange space in the middle of which flows a rivulet. The small stream ends in a pond. Around its water, you find objects trinkets and baubles from all around Wyvera.

Puzzled by how they might have gotten here, you step on one of them, and accidentally sends it in the water. As you look over the pond to see if you can get it back, you find the small body of water surprisingly deep. You do not see the bottom. Yet none of this equal your surprise as almost immediately after the object fell in, a new one, from a completely different region of the world is thrown out of the water, where the first object stood.

Interesting. You wonder what kind of items you could exchange this way.

Draw your stryx throwing an object in the pond. What are they giving to its mysterious water? Something precious, hoping for an equivalent exchange? Or maybe a simple twig, wondering just how far they can push the limits of the magical pond? Either way, perhaps the real question is what kind of treasure they will receive in return.

Summer Game Prep

All around you resounds a joyful, but ferocious cacophony. The arena really is bustling today! And for quite a good reason. Here and there, rumors had been spreading recently that the summer games were on the horizon.
That would certainly explain the decorations being set up all around the place.
It seems, however, you weren't the only one to hear the rumor. Countless stryx now occupied the arena, determined to sharpen their skills, practice their strength, develop their speed, or just eye the competition.
And judging by their performances ... this year promises to be interesting. Perhaps, in fact, you would be wise to join them in order to ensure you'll be at your very best when the time to compete comes. Practice makes perfect, as they say. Just try not to exhaust yourself before the competition!
Depict your stryx training for the summer games. How do they make sure to be top shape for the competition? Are they lifting weights? Running until their legs give up? Giving their all to break their personal sit-up record?

Requirements:

Fullbody of your stryx, colored or shaded with a background
800 words minimum for literature

Rider optional

Prize: x1 Glowing Mash
