Flame of an Eternity

Posted May 3, 2006, 2:25:36 AM UTC
Well, I used this picture of a phoenix for reference for this : http://home.swiftdsl.com.au/~8phoenix/Phoenixes
But you will see just how much I changed to make it my own.
Anyway, I did this for a friend of mine who is going through a serious trauma in her life right now, so I wanted to do something metaphorical for her which is why I chose the Phoenix. For her I wanted it to symbolize being able to be reborn into happiness from the dark ashes of her trauma. I am so very wise...*cough*
And she gets credit for the name. I couldn't think of anything for a title, so she wanted it to be called Flame of an Eternity to symbolize our friendship. She is such a sweetheart. Anyway, I hope you guys like it.

Ooh, the swirls of color in the wings is almost hypnotizing! I am a huge fan of phoenixes, and you've certainly done my favorite kind of bird justice. Yes I'm especially loving all the detail on the neck and head. Hug You're such a good person, drawing pictures for friends and whatnot. Favorite

Thank you thank you m'dear. Well this is actually the first phoenix I have ever attempted to draw in my life. And I am really happy with how it turned out. This is probably my most favorite of all of my drawings. I spent 7 friggen hours on this. 7 hours! I had to sew my hands back on twice. Well actually, it was only one time, but I sewed them on the wrong arms, so I had to fix them. >< But alas, I finally got it done. And I am too nice to my friends. I think I have some disease of some sort. But she is one of the lucky ones that I haven't eaten yet, I have a bad habit of eating my friends when I get bored which is why I don;t have any anymore. Ah well. Thanks again for your woderful compliments. Hug

Wow. I don't think I've ever done anything for seven straight hours. What? Not even sleep. But yeah, you really do got to watch when you're sewing your hands back on. I've seen people sew hands on their feet (*sigh* that was so funny, too.)

As for eating your friends - pretty big no-no, but still very amusing. Laughing And you're welcome for the compliments. Grin

I saw the original picture. I have to say, this one's a lot better. You've done such a wonderful job. My trial for Corel IX expired a long while ago, and now I have to get it, but it's so expensive! Anyways, wonderful pic, hun. Keep up the good work!!

How expensive is it in your neck of the woods? I got mine for about a hundred dollars which is not bad at all in my opinion. Compared to some of the other Paint Shops, it is actually cheap down here in good ole Nebraska. I saw one paint shop that was like 1200 dollars! No kidding! Well anyway, I only used that pic on the net to get some idea of how a phoenix is supposed to look. And then I went and did my own thing with it. I am glad you like it hun. I think it is my favorite pic of mine so far. Yes All my love. *hugs*

It really depends on where you look. Generally speaking, from where I looked around, Corel Painter IX costs about $400-$600 Canadian (that's probably about...let me think...$250-400? Huh? I'm not really sure, but it's expensive). I guess it really depends on where you look.
