Dr. Benedict Sheppard is the identical twin to Reginold Sheppard, many consider him the ...wilder of the two. He's been known as a heart breaker, a party crasher, and class clown. Where his brother is very eager to make use of impressive words, Benedict tends to just swear for emphasis. He and his Brother are very close, as close as Twins usually are. They have a language of their own when together and like his brother Benedict is well educated. He has a Doctorate in Environmental and Soil Studies, excellent for enriching poor soil and creating better environments for crops...which was his job on Mars, when Reginold said he'd be going Benedict had to go as well. Given their identical or near identical genetic make-up he also transformed as his Twin had. Though later on since he got to Mars a few years later.

No one is certain why their appearance is different, one would assume identical genetics would yeild the same appearance. Though since Pilot genetics are very different from their corresponding starting point...it could be normal variations and mutations. When samples are taken from skin and blood, the two twins do seem to be genetically identical. One of the many mysteries still unsolved about Pilots.
