Pilots have many sensitivities, excess oxygen, nitrites, temperature, and more particularly UV light. Most Pilots live in very dim lighting, often having a level of photosensitivity. They luminesce like a deep sea creature with special cells in their skin very much like the Photophores of many aquatic creatures native to Earth. When interacting with humans the lights do get turned up enough for mutual communication, but left alone Pilots prefer the comfort of darkness; living life under little more than an IR set of warming lights. Even specialized Holo displays had to be devised to support the Pilot's unique requirements, and their specialized eyes. A horizontal pupil giving a panoramic view around them, though their third eye does not function like their primary pair, its complete function isn't truly understood but it seems to be for some elevated sensory purpose.
